.-Zimbabwe is portrayed as a failed/struggling state (economically & politically) absolutely where our country (TANZANIA) is heading under current leader-You can also see a kid with a T-shirt emblazoned Diamond platnumz which reflects his song ‘nakaa kimya’ (I stay silent) which was released during Roma’s siege.-Kids with ripped/torn clothing signifies how Tz people are struggling financially-Woman position. The song depicts an old lady bare footed with torn clothes probably it shows how women suffers under political and economic fracas-Paulo,Daudi and John(Yohana). These are portrayed as main culprits of all struggles- At the end we see a man leading a group of freedom seekers out of Zimbabwe(refer above)

That wouldn’t happen, he has even gone further and ordered all press to apply for their licences afresh. :D:D:D:D:D
I have to admit that just the thought of that happening here gets me tingle a bit to think how they will panic.

That said I admire Diamond for being true to Swahili and sticking by it.

In this song Roma gives an account of how he was kidnapped by security agents from his studio and tortured for a couple of days only to reappear at the time when the regional commissioner Dar had said he would. Diamond kaa kimya song asked those criticizing the government to shut up (kaa kimya), mainly targeted to those that were demanding for Dar RC to produce his valid academic papers at a time when the government had sacked more than 10,000 civil servants for not having papers. This has eroded his popularity as he is seen to be working with the system.

Roma has been very political all through his music career and the kidnapping was bound to happen. Check out this two songs, I believe they are among his top 5

On a related topic, I heard somewhere that in Kenya we have a lot more destitute people compared to other east african countries. The economy might be slightly bigger but the wealth gap between the rich and the poor is bigger in Kenya than in other east african countries. In other words, the average Kenyan is poorer than the average Ugandan/Tanzanian/Rwandese

Look at the Purchasing power of our shilling, and start your research from their. Inflation is what is ferking us over.

Like Okwonkwo has said our shilling is stronger and can buy more. Thanks to improved reforms in our public schools and hospitals we are much ahead of our neighbours. Along the border regions they cross over to enroll their kids to our schools or go to hospitals. That said Uganda has more food than our average Kenyan household due to the tropical rain forest ecosystem.

A plate of food is an equivalent of 300 shillings in Kenyan Currency in Tanzania, with their plenty of food mostly talked about by Kenyans.
In Kenya at half the price in the highway you get a plate full.

I think most non-Kenyan east africans, have easier access to land for farming,so they don’t have to buy food since they grow their own. One of the reasons is that we are so capitalist that even arable land is being used for speculation by people who don’t farm. Hiring such a piece for a season will cost you comparatively more in Ke.
I don’t have the data to prove this however it’s some article I read some time back. I think it was written by Charles Obbo. If I find it I’ll share.

Tanzania is much more developed than Kenya in terms of each citizen state of living. An average Tanzanian in rural area doesn’t have to think bout food and has land , cattle at which he can generate income. In urban areas like Dar, Mwanza the cost of food is low than Nairobi without to forget the most important of all an average tz can own land/house in Dar. In Nairobi cost of living are relatively higher while income is almost the same as in Dar (in most carrers) , the only thing Nairobi is ahead is that Nairobi apartments are cheaper and at good standard (to find the same one in Dar you can pay almost 3 times t)

My friend you contradict yourself about lacking quality apartments in Dar yet land is abundant. Besides, your economic model doesn’t fully embrace capitalism as we do. Nairobi is expensive per say, but it also has more opportunities to make the much needed money.

Tz economic model doesn’t serve capitalism that can’t be argued. But speaking of living condition of the people Tz have better living standards. A Lower income Tanzanian can easily own land, form a business In Dar, easily own cattles, There so many markets for low income products/services . The situation is contrary to that of Nairobi whereby it serves better middle income people and expats but not people who begin from Zero(who are majority ).

Returning to The issue of apartment prices in Dar are high as most Tz people live in houses and they hate living in apartments so there relatively low investment in that aspect compared to Nairobi… But there also a lot of high standard houses, mansions in Dar at an average price for a middle income earner… so is an aspect of wants, desire, perception of the locals

I think you are mistaken! Restaurants, groceries and local purchasing power are low in dar compared to Nai! Only the rent price in dar is high, and @James mpangala has explained the reasons behind!

How is it down there by the way? Naskia they have very good roads

Heard they have very good data offers/prices. Streaming Youtube through their ISP locally is free from the watershed period, dunno if its true though
