Ubuntu Phone: Another One Bites the Dust

Ubuntu is killing off Unity. From next year Ubuntu will no longer ship with Unity, but will instead revert to Gnome as its desktop environment. And with Unity goes the dream of Ubuntu phones and tablets. One more corpse to hop over while reaching for Android - the new Windows.

Ubuntu Phone, say hello to Windows Phone for me. You both were too beautiful for this world, man.

It’s a shame really because, with the previews of Unity 8, it felt like there was some serious momentum. And you know this very well means that Mir is dead as well.

Try Sailfish OS

You are one of the few guys I’ve heard rave about unity

Gnome is easily customisable and comes with support

Mimi napenda ile Linux mint hutumia sijui ni cinnamon ama?

The only issue I have with Gnome is it takes a lot of vertical space with some applications like Firefox. Unless you have highres screen, you will dislike it. The best experience with Gnome will probably be on Fedora now.

Anyways, I liked Unity better.

Desktop tearing ya Mint is ridiculous. I find Fedora with Cinnamon a bit better if you don’t mind fighting with Selinux.

Gnome works for me best
or you could just use another desktop window manager

Tulia, linux huwa kwa VM natumia tu kuchezea. Selinux huniudhi kwa Android though

MTU unaweza weka Ubuntu kwa phone?
