Uhuru in machakos

President Uhuru Kenyatta on
Friday afternoon received a
heroic welcome when he arrived
at Machakos People’s Park where
he was on a meet the people
tour.
The President who left Nairobi
around 1 pm was shocked by the
grand reception he met at
Mlolongo and Machakos town
where surging
crowds waving miniature national
flags greeted him.
Police helicopters hovered around
Machakos town as Uhuru greeted
thousands of residents who said
they are pleased with his
leadership skills.
Uhuru who was accompanied by
Machakos Governor, Dr Alfred
Mutua, was in a jovial mood and
he even danced with locals at
Machakos People’s Park.
In his speech, Uhuru assured
Machakos residents that the
Jubilee Government will connect
water to every household
in Masinga, Mwala and Yatta
Constituencies.
On infrastructure, Uhuru said his
Government will construct a dual
carriage from Machakos to Athi –
River that will connect Machakos
to Nairobi.
“By June next year, we will
commence construction of Athi
River - Machakos Road-dual
carriage way road" Uhuru said.
Meanwhile, Machakos Deputy
Governor, Bernard Kiala, has
ditched former Vice President,
Kalonzo Musyoka, and vowed to
work with Governor Mutua.
Kiala said “Governor Mutua
tutafanya kazi pamoja, I will
support you …mnisamehe kabisa.
Maendeleo haiwezi kuja na
malumbano”
