Azimio One Kenya flag bearer Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua were on Sunday, May 22, elated after they received a State House-inspired gift from the youth during a rally at the Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County.
In a video seen by [I]Kenyans.co.ke[/I], Raila was forced to briefly cut his speech after the crowd broke into cheers as a model of the president’s official residents hosted high, moved from the crowd towards the podium where he stood.
Stunned, the ODM party leader asked what the item was, only recognising that it was a model of what could be his next residence if he is declared winner of the August 9 General Election.

“What is that? Is it the State House?” he marveled. “Give it to Martha. Come so that we can stand next to our State House,” he stated as the object reached him.
The gift was received by the Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who was assisted by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina. Other leaders including Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu joined in the celebration and posed for a photo with the model.
Raila promised that when he and Karua get to State House, they will fight Kenya’s biggest enemy - corruption. He promised that they will bring to book perpetrators of the vice he claimed had denied the youth several employment opportunities.

The former Premier further opened up about his experience having lunch at a restaurant owned by the youth in Nairobi after he unveiled the Narc Kenya party leader as his running mate.
He noted that while he was impressed by the set-up by the entrepreneurial nature of the young graduates running the restaurant, he registered that the youth resorted to business because of a scarcity of employment opportunities in the country.
“We went to a restaurant in Nairobi manned by students who were done with their university education but lacked jobs. That will come to an end. Youth who have gone through schools should get jobs that they deserve,” he added.
While reverting to the Recognition of Prior Learning model, the ODM leader added that those in the Jua Kali industry will receive recognition for their self-taught skills that will enable them to earn a living.
The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa is synonymous with receiving gifts from his supporters, whom even his opponents have described as loyal.
He has been the recipient of high-end gifts from his more affluent fanbase including airplanes, campaign machinery, high-end vehicles including a luxurious Range Rover and designer shoes.
