Unemployment might be a gift in disguise in Kenya

#1
The middle class in Kenya is highly comprised of 8-5 workers who are in the white collar industry .Now take into account what they are charged; NSSF ,NHIF,PAYE,Helb,KRA,Loans, bills and to top it off the new housing levy.Maybe the guy earns a net pay of 60k minus the deductions he takes home about 40k a month.
Sasa kuna jango apa nje..ametoka akangangana akasakanya ka thao moja mia tano...But the way he has to tire to get the money is unimaginable. He is not subjected to any form of tax because he will file nil on his returns .You end up wondering...ni wapi kuzuri hii Kenya.

It's all about consistency and predictability. Formal employees can plan two years ahead because their income is predictable. On the other hand The jua Kali guy cannot even plan two months ahead because income ni kama mvua. It may flood or fail for the whole season.

Self employed jua kali has more job security !
Employed folks you may wake up to find a notice at the company gate rendering you obsolete, you have no control over your employment unless you work for govt or TSC and such

Shosho is not boarding but only because hana kitambulisho, hana pin, hana Kenyan Passport. Can I ask you a quick question? what is the gava going to do with those that have renewed their passports? They issued a silly threat...don't really think this is being handled in the best way possible.
