The U.S. have confirmed that Iran has shot down one of its $180million spy drones, but refutes the Revolutionary Guard’s claims it was in Iranian airspace.
Iranian commander Hossein Salami today declared that his men are ‘ready for war’ and that the drone had been downed because ‘borders are our red line’.
Tehran said it shot down an RQ-4 Global Hawk over the southern coastal province of Hormozgan, but a U.S. official said it was a Navy MQ-4C Triton in international airspace. The two look similar and the Triton is a variant of the Global Hawk.
The Triton, which is part of a fleet that has replaced the U-2 spy plane, flies at 56,000ft and could have only been downed by a sophisticated radar guided missile such as the Russian S-300 system which Iran operates.
It is believed this is the first time a Triton has been shot down.
The Islamic Republic News Agency, the official Iranian state news agency, published a photograph purporting to show the burning aircraft falling from the sky, but the image was taken two years ago in Yemen.
It comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington over U.S. economic sanctions and alleged Iranian attacks on shipping in the Straits of Hormuz.

A highly sophisticated missile will have been deployed to destroy the Navy spy plane (file photo), which will be deeply concerning to Washington not only for the weapons-capability of Tehran, but the secrets they could steal in examining the technology

The US Navy’s MQ-4C Triton:
The first few high-altitude, high-endurance Naval drones were introduced in May of last year.
The U.S. plans to have a fleet of 68 operational by 2032.
Capable of more than 30 hours at 56,000ft, Washington will be deeply concerned by the loss of the $180million drone.
Not only does it signal sophisticated missiles exist in the Iranian arsenal, but also that their aeronautical technology may have fallen into Tehran’s sinister hands.
News that an MQ-4C was shot down has taken many by surprise because its first ever deployment was reportedly scheduled for this summer in the Pacific.
The Triton was designed to replace the Navy’s RQ-4 Global Hawks and are part of a generation of reconnaissance planes which have superseded the U-2 spy planes.
The MQ-4C’s optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors enable full motion video surveillance with capabilities to detect, classify and track targets.
It has Rolls-Royce engines, is 50ft long, with a wingspan of 130ft and a top speed of 368mph.
Five crew members fly it from the ground and the drone feeds data back to bases in Florida and Washington.

Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guard, announced Iran’s borders ‘represent our red line,’ before a crowd in the western city of Sanandaj.
He told the people, ‘Any enemy that violates the borders will be annihilated.’
Tehran’s response to the drone was ‘a clear message’ from the ‘defenders of the borders’ of Iran, he told the Tasnim news agency.
Iran will ‘respond to all foreign aggression and our reaction is, and will be, categorical and absolute.’
Earlier, a spokesman for the U.S. military’s Central Command, Navy Captain Bill Urban, said no U.S. aircraft were flying over Iran on Wednesday.
U.S. military officials said Iran fired a missile at another drone last week that responded to the attack on two oil tankers near the Gulf of Oman.
America blames Iran for the attack on the ships, which Tehran denies.
Commander Sean Kido of US Naval Forces Central Command, or NAVCENT, told reporters in the UAE yesterday that the limpet mine used in the attack on a Japanese-owned tanker ‘is distinguishable and it is also strikingly bearing a resemblance to Iranian mines that have already been publicly displayed in Iranian military parades’.
The Japanese-owned Kokuka Courageous, loaded with highly flammable methanol, came under attack last Thursday as it passed through the Gulf of Oman along with the Norwegian-operated Front Altair.
Tehran has denied involvement and instead suggested Washington could be the author of the attacks, using the operation to justify force against Iran.
It was the second attack in a month on ships in strategic shipping lane.
On May 12, two Saudi oil tankers and two other vessels were damaged in mysterious ‘sabotage attacks’ in the Gulf of Oman off the United Arab Emirates.

TOJ

game time : 1 min.
Iran 1 : US 0.

Iran has been preparing for this for long. Remember in 1999 Serbia tweak its old Russia bor missile defense system to be able to track, lock and destroy usa stealth plane. They shot it down and that success was celebrated in Moscow just as much as Serbia. That simple modification made that plane obsolete overnight. 20 years later Russia, China and their allies have developed means to track all usa planes and bring them down. Same to cruise missiles. Iran will be the proven grounds.

I have seen this “TOJ” word many times but dont know what it means. Saidia fossil

haki ya nani, tunacheka wakati watu wanataka kupigwa fry na kuminsiwa kama minced meat, enyewe acha tu, interesting times

Methinks Iran is being set up big time for a good one in the diab. Mine attack on a hauler, downing of a drone… We should be fearful of another war.

Tears of Joy

Sande

Let no one lie to you, if a full war breaks out, and another major power does not intervene to save Iran, Iran will be bombed to the ground.
Maybe Iran will shoot a few planes, but hundred more will penetrate the air space… Iran will resist in a convectional engagement for 2 weeks max.

From there after their installations are destroyed and most of their weapons cooked, they will result to an internal insurgency

Naskia UK inataka support USA kwa hii vita. The way Israel is looking forward to this war wacha tuu . Wamenyamaza tuu but wanaitaka sana

Uchokozi, and we know that it will culminate in the USA starting another hopeless military campaign to help Drumpf justify a second term.

Israel is dying to see this comes to fruition, but Saudis want it more for power play issues in the middle east.
Its like in our case, if Kenya started developing missiles successfully and nuclear weapons, regional Eastern African nations, like Ethiopia and TZ would be playing for the end of us.

having ICBMs and being able to guide and miniaturize nuclear weapons and put them in a capable ICBM is the ultimate goal of any nation that wants to be counted among respected nations…

First of all , no other country will try impose their will on you… otherwise the thought of your cities getting buried in a nuclear inferno scares even the US.

That is why Iran capabilities have to be destroyed ,otherwise NATO , Russia, China , will have to accept another kid on the block.

The usa military is more hype than action. Serbia modified a 60’s middle defense system to shoot down its prized stealth plane that costs billions to build and develop in the 70’s and 80’s. They were all removed from front line bases after that simple knowledge of shooting them down was shared. Even the hype around it in Hollywood and documentaries ended. More surprises awaits uncle Sam’s and their very loyal uncles Toms.

Commemorating the victims of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, the anti-aircraft rocket launcher that shot down a US F-117A aircraft stealth bomber in 1999 went on display at Belgrade’s Military Museum.

Belgrade’s Military Museum on Thursday marked Serbia’s annual remembrance day for the victims of the 1999 NATO strikes by making the NEVA anti-aircraft system that shot down a US stealth bomber part of its permanent outdoor exhibit.
Its installation as an exhibit is intended to commemorate the victims and serve as a permanent reminder of the bombing, the state secretary at the defence ministry, Nenad Neric, said at the unveiling ceremony.
“The air raids targeted military objectives, but also hospitals, embassies, roads, bridges and entire cities,” Neric said.
Retired Yugoslav Army Colonel Zoltan Dani, whose unit shot down the F-117A stealth bomber, spoke at the ceremony about how it happened, on the fourth day of the NATO campaign.
“Many things had to come together. We had an excellent team and functioning equipment, we just needed a bit of soldier’s luck,” Dani said.
The F-117A, which was hit over the village of Budjanovci in northern Serbia, remains the first and only downing of an aircraft with stealth technology in combat.
Colonel Dani later became friends with US pilot Dale Zelko, who safely parachuted out of the downed F-177A.
Their friendship became the subject of a documentary called film ‘The Second Meeting’.
“The movie was a unique opportunity to send a message to the world that peace and compromise is better,” Dani told BIRN.
NATO launched air strikes on March 24, 1999, without the backing of the UN Security Council, after Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic refused to sign up to a peace deal to end his forces’ violent crackdown on Kosovo Albanians seeking independence.
By the time Milosevic eventually conceded 78 days later, paving the way for NATO to enter Kosovo, the civilian death toll from the bombing campaign was put at around 500 by Human Rights Watch.
Serbia estimates that NATO’s bombing campaign cost the country $30 billion in direct damage caused by bombs and missiles.
Health concerns also still remain about the danger to civilians from the weapons NATO used during the campaign.
Despite years of demining campaigns, a number of cluster bomblets remain scattered across Serbia, while the use of weapons with cancer-causing depleted uranium is believed to have killed dozens of Italian soldiers during missions to Kosovo, according to European NGOs.
In 2006, Serbia joined NATO’s Partnership for Peace programme, a framework for practical cooperation with countries aspiring to join NATO, but public opinion in Serbia remains strongly against joining the alliance

How long did Iraq war last? Remind me please. Also how long did Afghanistan war take? 2 weeks as you said?

:D:D:D

This time I feel Trump will be removed if he goes to war with Iran. Most American voters are tired of Iraq and afghanistan wars. One of his campaign pledges was to remove US troops from Afghanistan.

You must have left your bald scalp sore after all the thinking.
