Manchester United manager,
Louis van Gaal, will turn down
advances from Arsenal for
defender Chris Smalling,
according to reports.
The England international has
been heavily linked with a move
to the Emirates Stadium with
manager Arsene Wenger willing
to sanction a £10m bid.
However, sources intimate that
the Dutch tactician is unwilling to
let Smalling leave to a club they
are in competition with for
Champions League qualification.
Besides, the Red Devils do not
have a luxury of defenders at the
moment with the likes of Marcos
Rojo, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones
all sidelined.
While Van Gaal is not convinced
by the centre-back , it’s unlikely
that any deal will happen before
the end of the season.
