Villagers, What Would You Do...?

I was recently let go from a job.

My old boss just contacted me asking job-related questions.

How should I respond?

Don’t burn your bridges. You may never know if your next boss knows your former boss

You can respond but focus on your independence.

Now that you are not working there they will not even allow you to go use their toilet so don’t help them. Let the company eat losses.

Charge a consultancy fee

Politely tell him that you’ve now entered the consultancy field and would be more than willing to send him a list of your rates.

Then sit down and do the math of what they paid you hourly, add some “gratuity”, and quote that as your hourly rate.

Let him know that if he needs your help, you’ll be more than happy to bring him a contract he can sign to access your services.

This

bullshit,kumagwo ni gucokagwo

He is burning no bridges. He is just trying to get value for his labour and knowledge…
The reason the boss consults him at this moment, is because he knows he can get the help and information he needs, without paying a cent. That is no fair.

kama sio kufutwa I see no reason hawezi saidia

Alifutwa boss.

@Nefertities kwani uliolewa na mugiriki? that ‘pay me beech’ angle is suave :D:D:D:D

:D:D:D You like that? If you want to hear stories where people stick it to the man while maintaining very chill levels of fvckyou, just visit subreddits like r/maliciouscompliance and r/prorevenge, r/nuclearrevenge and r/supanovarevenge

If you prefer to hear them read out loud for you, check out @sorrowtv or @Fresh or @rslash on youtube and go for the videos with those subreddits on their titles.

Other good subreddits are r/entitledparents and r/entitledpeople.

Lemme find you just one video

Thank you, guys.

Yours were the same advice a business pro gave me…

He said I need to let the ex-boss know any professional advice is only coming with a consultancy cost, and nothing else…and since there’s no more trust between us, a hefty downpayment will be necessary before commencement.

They hang up on me after that!

It’s better than a loss. Coz work without pay is loss

You did the right thing. It is either wakulipe ama watembeze. Your knowledge is no longer free and you have bills to pay.

I find it ironic that someone has the guts to fire you and then seek professional help from you for free. Hiyo ni kukubeba ufala. You did the right thing. Hongera!

I learned a thing or two from this thread. And @Nefertities you are one sick puppy

This is nice Queen Nef.
