War on Illicit brew stagemanaged

It all narrows down to who pays tax and who has perfected tax evasion. Anyone who runs a liquor shop or a bar will tell you the nightmare they had when KRA officials knocks on your door claiming your duty stamps are FAKE.
When this guys visit your area chances are that those companies that don’t pay tax will call you telling you to hide their product. Surprisingly the 4 giant companies (UDV, KWAL,ASL and LDK) whose duty stamps are genuine are never worried about KRA.
You do realise this companies have no cheap brands priced below 100 Bob??? Yet you can easily note that most of this “2 nd generation” brands have a retail price of 100 bob and a wholesale price ranging from 40-100 kshs.

Anyone keen enough will tell you that each of the 4 giants has issued a new pricelist since 1st July following tax increase in the budget. But then how can they increase their prices following tax increase and let the small competing companies that dont pay tax continue operating??? Easy. Kamwana is owned by the cooperates. They funded him. The police could not help in the crackdown. Kebs issued them with licenses hence could not help much. Kra has been unable to cub illegal brews.
So what was the Option??? Tell the public to help with the crack down. Destroy all illegal brands and even burn these factories to maim the manufacturers completely.
Its for the same reasons we had them raid Eastleigh in the name of fighting terrorism yet it was clear the businesses taking place there were not paying tax…Hence they had to be done away with!

Naunga mkono serikali. Pombe Kali I is he kesha, whether viceroy, gilbeys or what. Let me ask you assuming pilsner is retailing at 150 Kenya king at 140,but retailers sell half at 70, mbona KBL wasitengeneze pombe chupa ndogo, kama pilsner kadogo kama what topex did

Hizi ‘second-generation alcohol’ ndo zipi kwanza?

hio swali ukipata jibu pia sisi utuambie. tunashangaa walevi sacco tumekuwa tunakunywa tu 2nd generation alcohol

Nice try @Theuri wa kigogoine. We were waiting for your conspiracy theory. Now that it is finally here I would first say this: If your sponsors have a problem of mixing methanol with ethanol the way you have a problem mixing this and these, then this is why we have a big problem in this country; a problem of youth who cannot walk after consuming a tot, a damn tot!, of the poison you call drinks.

Folks, let us not lose focus here: Think about the youth that Mr wa Kigogoine dares not mention in his post at all…

So if it is suspended, it is second generation.

Clearly one of the biggest let downs has been KEBS. Im sure they never even bother to inspect the ‘factories’ making all these licenced drinks

see the list of killer brew here http://nairobientertainment.com/2015/07/04/heres-the-full-list-of-killer-brews-suspended-by-kebs/

Second generation ni “pombe” ambayo that is made from a by product. They are cheap and easy to manufacture and have a high return on capital invested.

The most common by products used are ethanol and methanol. All the manufacturer does after getting ethanol is just adding water and color and the brew is ready for consumption. They are fatal drinks in the short run kwa sababu not everyone excelled in chemistry…so beware!!!

Just needed a clarification, otherwise mimi sio member wa hiyo club. Thank you.

I’d seen an earlier list that included EABL’s Jebel, na kadhaa za UDV including Kenya Cane, Kane Extra. Now they are not on the new list!! What is?

Kujuana tu!

you are being funny,ain’t u?

EABL is one of the top tax paying companies.the government would not want to be at war with it’s donors
