Water Pans

Any Cabrons’ here who have an idea on the cost of water pans?

Trying to see if this is a viable option over borehole in an area with no main power and decently dry.

Quotes appreciated. I need at least 2000 cubic meters of water harvested a season…

I find desilting a major concern

Not to forget, turbidity, drinking-safety

Waterpan will waste a lot of the onset rains if the area does not receive lots of it its pointless. Borehole is bullet proof. Drill one for say 1.5 Mil then use 200k to get Dayliff submersible pumps, combine with solar and you have water. If you still need to trap rainwater use a damliner and a smaller pond.

Also too much loss of the water via evaporation and worse so if the area is both sunny and windy.

Leta hio kazi…I’ll charge you 500/cubic meter for the water pan…iko wapi?

So many other things you need to consider before settling on this.

Waterpan requires a large catchment area. For 2 Million Litres, you will need at least an acre or so of the catchment area. Unless you have some road runnoff directed to your farm.

Also, a 2Million Liters waterpan can be a hazard, if not well fenced off from people and domestic animals. A borehole may be costly to implement but has less maintenance costs.

250k ya around 700,000 litres. Excavation only. Panga hesabu ya dam paper pia. Comes in handy to stop water seepage
