There’s a steep hill where Magadi Road separates Nairobi National Park and the Multimedia University…sasa hapo heavy vehicles have a tendency to stall. Huwa noma sana kupanda na saa ingine brakes fails as one descends.
Trailer ilikuwa imebeba excavator leo imelemewa. Happened at 5:30 am and the traffic is horrendous
There was a time I was coming from Kona Baridi past Kiserian. I was behind this old model pajero at that spot being driven by someone who was visibly drunk and was all over the road. Kufika kwa hiyo mlima there was a ditch due to erosion on the side of the Nairobi National park, The guy must have blacked out on the wheel he swerved and went across the road ndani! ya ditch. Nduru tu ndio niliskia ya female passengers wake. But it was something minor, nothing fatal.
2011 kuna dem wa Vitz karibu animalize hapo. Jinga anatext akiteremuka mlima, clipped the rear of a lorry and veered onto my lane.
Missed my nduthi by inches.
The most steep road is Kingara Road between James Gichuru and Riara Road. I don’t know what they were thinking. Sharp descent then steep climb. Even a car of 1000CC is carrying heavy people will stall. Now imagine those TATA fully loaded with cargo. There was one ahead of me once and I stopped to see if it will make it to Riara road. All cars behind stopped as well, no hooting or impatience. We all knew if it fails and rolls back then all cars behind will be flattened.
Hiyo haijashinda za Magadi Rd. Someone mentioned Kona Baridi. Along Magadi Road, just past Olepolos there’s a place called “Chairman” and there’s “Chairlady” - further along. Hizo mbili ni noma. If in a lorry (10 wheeler) if it’s loaded, kila mtu except driver hushuka na unawekelea mawe (plenty lying around) kwa mabega… You follow your truck polepole ukiwekanga “dunga”(the fucking huge stone you carry uphill on your shoulder)
