The back of the Sh10 features children drinking the pyramid pack milk.

When we were kids in the 80’s, that green note was enough to sustain a family of four for a day comfortably, inclusive of newspaper and bus fares. Ferk inflation

  1. it was announced on jamhuri day, 1978, as one of moi’s coronation gifts to kenyans…

edit: the back of the 20 denotes adult education aka ngumbaru which was one of the major government campaigns of the eighties …

Thank you for the insight! I had no idea why the beaded ladies were reading Taifa Leo on a Sh20.

I also have a 20 shillings note from the Moi era hidden somewhere. I was given as change in a shop and decided to keep it for good.

During the Kenya @50 celebrations I saw a pink or purplish 50 note and I have never seen it again

My Dad used to give me a crisp 10 bob note which I dutifully kept between pages 63 and 64 of my GHC book.
Westlands to Tao - 2 bob
Tao to home - 8 bob.
Wueeh.
