WD External Hard disk Repair

I have an external 2TB WD My Passport hard disk that isn’t being detected by Windows. Says as shown in the pic. The disk’s LED stays on though. On connecting it to the laptop I can hear the disk spinning inside for about 2 seconds then it stops. I’ve tried possible solutions from YouTube with no success. For now, even data recovery software aren’t detecting the disk.
Wadau saidieni. Can it be repaired and the data in it be retrieved? Any place you know where I can take it for repair/data retrieval?

Check the connection cable, It might be faulty

Hizi vitu bado ziko

Run “chkdsk”

Are you on win 11 22H2? i seem to be getting such error messages on the USB PORT more than before the upgrade.

Check cable

Yes. Have you managed to rectify those issues?

I tried a different cable on a different PC, there was the same problem.

Hehe. Bado ziko.

Not yet. I am just thinking your issue is actually related to the win 11 22H2 upgrade.

I hope there’s a place I can take the hard disk for data recovery.

There are data handling companies in KE that can help assuming that your data is high value eg East African Data Handlers Ltd

Nipee hio job for 3k if I recover your data

This is chilling. I backup to the same make and model of the same capacity na kuna wakati it makes some weird click sounds. Nimeona hii post nikastuka cos my data of decades plus system image are stored there. I guess i better make another layer of backup. Cloud backup is still too costly despite the hype.

Try changing the case. Use a different case. Or use sata to USB

It’s the kind that has no Sata connection inside it.

I’m thinking solid state drives are better. They’re a little more expensive though.

The disk isn’t even detected by Windows, not showing up hata kwa disk manager. So far even data recovery software can’t detect it. Unaonaje?

Can be repaired

I’ll contact you.
