payslip to suffer small dent

As if NHIF and NSSF are not enough

I have been thinking about the Samburu Maasai and Turkana people way of life. They don’t pay taxes and consequently they don’t stress when government money is stolen because they really didn’t contribute to that in significant ways.
I’ve been thinking of living off of the land but in modern ways. Use solar energy, grow my own food, dig borehole and harvest rainwater. I know it’s easier said than done. I know. I’ve been reading on how Amish and Mennonite do it
GoK to keep us in slave like conditions. They’re taxing us to death because they can. We’re hopelessly divided to stop this enslavement

In America inaitwa going off the grid. Yaani unajitoa kwa grid ya stima and other govt. money grabbing habits and habitats. You live off the land and collect your own water etcetera. In America it is frowned upon and even somewhat illegal:

https://www.theinertia.com/environment/apparently-its-illegal-to-live-off-the-grid-2/

Also every govt. on earth knows of solar power and its benefits, sio ati hawajui. Lakini hio pesa yote ya kplc wawachilie iende hivo ndio unataka kusema? Heck no. Mtaambiwa ndio hio nuclear its cleaner than the sun. Just make sure you pay us!

Tax ni lazima hata Mmaasai na Amish govt. iko na other means za kuwagwara. They are not free. Labda hata wanagwarwa kukushinda wewe taxpayer wa Nairobi.

Nice idea but but you wont escape VAT (on consumer goods, car fuel etc) and land rates on that ranch in Loitokotok. But you will still have gone to the bare minimum taxes you can pay

I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos of people living off the grid. I am enchanted. Hakuna mambo za kuambia mbilikimo naeza kanyaga kwa sura “yes Sir I’ll correct the invoice right away” or ile stress ya kukimbizana na overcharging by Kenya Power.
I just want to be free.

the allure of the government system is predicated on the assumption that unapewa security. If you all go off the grade who will pay the police and the army that protects you? Mnadanganywa ati mtarudi anarchy every man for himself whereas in reality politician anataka hio pesa.

The American west is a good example of living off the grid. Your security against Indians and bandits was your God and your rifle in the harsh and vast American west. Watu wakaona hapana gun haisaidii we need a sheriff. Halafu wakaona hapana sherriff amewezwa we need a county govt., then a state govt. , then soon a national govt. Because of that very long route, some states retained capital punishment from the bad old days when they used to hang criminals, as well as keeping guns in the house.

I am curious

In the short term it is expensive. You will use biogas/solar/windmill?

But if you manage to kick out KPLC and the water companies from your wallet that is still something worth applauding.

Solar and biogas and charcoal seem like most viable options.

hehe na ujue gava ime make sure solar panels stay expensive. hizo miaka zote na vile tuko na jua mingi no president has ever even touched solar power on a serious note. ni kudanganywa tu geothermal will be cheaper, not free, but cheaper.

Essentially even air time should be free. We pay for air! mkienda off kplc mnunue solar nyinyi wote utaskia rotich in the next budget amesema, “In a cost cutting measure I propose a monthly tax on all solar panels to boost… blah blah nonsense maongo… lazima ulipe wewe Mkenya…”

And just like that umerudishwa kwa grid.

Governments don’t want citizen they seem to want tax slaves.

That is the whole point.

Most Kenyans in rural areas live off the grid hata hawajui KRA ni nini, the only thing they pay the government is vat on consumer goods

ni kama tule tumtu twa ushago huletwa news ati ame apply ile physics kidogo alisoma high skul and google and youtube university na akajengea raiya ka-dam kadogo na kegenerator ati analipisha 50 bob per month kutumia bulb. Si analetwa ntv, next day kplc wako huko na polisi to electrify the area and arrest this off the grid mafia bandit. “What this young man is doing is very dangerous! Ataua watu, atachoma nyumba mkono ya serikali ni mrefu, hana licence…”

hao ndio wako ndani kabisa especially the farmer. paraffin ya taa na kupika, serikali. Shule hospitali ,serikali. Maziwa nayo upatie uhuru. Mahindi ncpb. wanaeza kulipa ama wakatae ama waibe. Tea and coffee wanajua kule wanapeleka. wheat, oats, fisheries, tobacco, cotton, pyrethrum etc… govt. eats first in line. Govt eats first then taxes you like a mofo and pays when they feel like which is often after months. Or not at all.

And those are the lucky ones, the cash crop guys with exception of things like maize which swing both ways. Food crops guys unanyanyaswa na middleman mkora na kanjo. These farmers even beg the govt. to come in and regulate and protect them from the thieving middleman not knowing that the cash crop farmer can’t stand the thieving govt. corporations.

Its called going off grid

I call it punishing innovation. Very useless.

bado utanunua sigara, sukari, petroli etc.
