Westgate Vs. Dusit D2

By then the terrorist had killed eight people at the restaurant, most of them from injuries after he detonated his explosive vest.

The arrival of the Recce Squad around 4pm changed the matrix as they entered the complex where the terrorists were holed up, with the GSU Commandant Douglas
Kanja coordinating the efforts together with an operation intelligence team from the NIS Counter Terrorism unit.

The GSU air cavalry unit had brought in some of the Recce Squad members.

“The KDF (Kenya Defence Forces) special forces were also put on standby,” sources told the Nation.

The KDF soldiers were stationed near the Chiromo students’ hostels, a stone’s throw away from the scene.

The idea was to avoid a repeat of the mistakes made in the 2013 Westgate rescue effort when GSU officers withdrew after the arrival of the KDF.

West gate was a d!ck measuring contest, RECCE lost a member to KDF bullet. Hadi Uhuru had to organize a luncheon at Ruaraka, just to cool down the tension.

The whole operation process was well undertaken problem is they didn’t cordon off the area well…journalists were roaming in and out freely not knowing the dangers they getting themselves into, thats where i think KDF should come in,no one should be allowed in that vicinity … thank God these fuckkers didn’t have a time bomb , if they did it would have been bad

Were you there as a diner or a waiter?

Your first statement has some truth in it. The commanders failed to reign in on their men. Umeharibu hapo kwa luncheon. Or else what would have happened if there was not that so called luncheon? These two different units are the creme of our security in terms of training, firepower and discipline, losing an officer due to friendly fire is not and cannot be an issue or bring some ‘beef.’ Do not believe what the press feed you.

wow looks very tactical

Absolute amateurs!!

Interestingly, some of the terrorists were communicating with people in Kiambu and Somalia. It is believed their commander was the one talking with Shabaab militants across the border.

He even sent images of victims of the attack to unidentified persons in Somalia. He had also talked to a man in Ruaka at the beginning of the attack.

An idea to jam communication at the complex was floated, but some commanders rejected it.

The Kenya security forces have really improved compared to WestGate - a unified command structure, picking the right team (GSU Recce) which is more experienced and trained on close quarter combat…

But as i had analysed earlier, the terrorists made some fundamental mistake, DUSIT complex was just the wrong target place for such an act of terror.

I almost asked why wasn’t communication jammed but I suspect they wanted to listen in on them…And probably cutting off victims would have been counter productive

they had to gather more intell. Reason why the stormed Guago estate very fast.

So it’s assumed that Alshabaab won’t get better.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next time Alshabaab hit this country, the deaths are in hundreds. We are still at a high risk. What if they decide to hit Kenyans themselves-like hapo UON? 10 minutes of action with good timing and a good automatic will result in hundreds of deaths.

And what’s with these celebrations? People lost lives? What do they feel about all these shenenigans and machoism.

That why I say the security guys need to get a mobile command center that be the designation point of all media outlets.

They’ll trace the signals. And they’ll expect a hellfire missle.

Or a KDF special forces raid.

Not that simple bro…
Besides Alshabab is operating on a very lean budget and volunteers willing to blow themselves up have become scarce.

Arm

Arm Chair analyst just what is ‘cross quater combat’?

I pray that it stays that way. But if dynamics change its over.

:D:D:D

:D:D:D excuse my auto correct , close quarter combat

We don’t know how many attacks security forces have thwarted.

Before Trump halted his drone strikes Alshabab didn’t bother messing with us since we’d easily supply intelligence and coordinates to there positions which killed many of them. Which forced them to concentrate on there car bombs in Mogadishu. Ever since Trump pulled the drones they have gone back to targeting us.

It’s crucial we gather a lot more evidence and intelligence and strike back at them in Somalia. Before they can plan anymore attacks.

On the anniversary days of Garissa University, and Westgate Mall, Embassy bombing. Security should be heightened during these days.
