What’s so a big deal with Raila’s shoe being torn?

Once again, Kenyans are creating news where there is none. Now, Raila had attended a church function and had this torn shoe- as, kids would put it, it was ‘laughing’. (See the story here)

So, Kenyans all over the internet are offering their opinions/jokes/nonsense about an issue that is, frankly, neither of any benefit to the country nor of any medicinal value in curing their miseries.

So, what’s the big deal about a shoe that is ‘laughing’?. Look, these shoes normally are very ok in the morning only for them to start misbehaving in course of the day.

Kenyans love pretending that their lives are normally very ok and mishaps don’t happen. So, if you start vomiting on the roadside, it’s such a big surprise to them because they cannot vomit. If you suddenly cough when being interviewed on a national TV, viewers will be ‘surprised’ that you can cough.

Perhaps because of deep seated feelings of insecurity and the accompanying miseries, Kenyans are very keen on looking out for other people’s weaknesses because it makes them ‘feel better’ when they spot a weakness in another person.

Of course a miserable mind laden with feelings of insecurity/low esteem is always eager to rejoice when it spots other people’s weaknesses. It explains why a Kenyan(who cannot express himself in the English language to safe his skin) will mock, say, an MP who cannot adequately explain himself in English.

If your perceived source of strength is through searching for other people’s weaknesses, you are an idiot.

I leave you with this quote that I have plagiarised from the standard:

“Vulgar people take huge delight in the faults and follies of great men” - Schopenhauer

Kibaki too had a wardrobe malfunction while addressing Kenyans from a podium when his trousers dropped but in his trademark style, casually joked about it and the matter ended there.

Raila having a laughing shoe is not news. The news is that babu amesota.

Haiya … ! Pia yeye anavaa fiatu fia shina??

#copied. I didn’t laugh when shoes flew in Migori towards Uhuru Kenyatta… I had a feeling that Raila will pick one and show up in it at a public function.

Take note that you are addressing a senior villager. And you are discussing a senior citizen in an embarrassing situation.

Never derive humor from other people’s misfortunes/embarrassment.
