I would disagree, with this.
First crop water demand in turkana is atleast 3 times kiambu, and like all of it will have to be irrigation. If you factor evaporation losses in water pans and dam reservoirs the investment needed is massive.
Again the cultural practices there is mainly pastoralism.
While in kiambu, and some other areas just a little to moderate investment in agriculture could allow for more intensive production that could feed turkana easy
There is a % of Tukana and Marsabit county land terrain that is suitable for agriculture, enough rain.Ndii says central kenya is at saturation, room for growth in Turkana and Marsabit is massive.Put more resources there, give Central resources just to sustain what is working there.

1. Tell us about evapotranspiration in turkana vs in kiambu.
2. You clearly have absolutely no idea about how crops grow
Small scale Vegetable Farming has been going on along river Turkwell for long, conflicts between farmers & herders discouraged most farmers.

You can't challenge me on crop and livestock production, that's my field of training & practice.
Following keenly on this healthy discussion. I want to move away from pastrolism (kukamua ngamia) niingie ukulima wa mashamba. Tuendeleeni majamaa

That water is saline. You can’t use desalinated water to irrigate and turn a profit on crops. It’s cheaper to export ( water or crops) from rain rich counties. Don’t take David Ndiis statements at face value. Factor in the costs of construction of a large scale desalination plant and it’s operation and you start questioning your decision.
There’s no way Turkana will ever be the bread basket of Kenya, and bypass Central, Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley where you have continuous rainfall, supportive weather and soil. Turkana has poor soil to start.

Seems like turkana will be the GalanaKulalu of the Ruto government.
I agree some more investment needs to be done in turkana to improve their lives, but like you have rightly said they will never be Kenya breadbasket

Papa apa nakubaliana na wewe 100.01%. If we look at ROI itakuwa hakuna in this scheme. If the desalinated water can be used for irrigation .... hio itawezekana. But Kenya being kenya the financial resources zitabonywa na watu wa appetite, project ibakie tu kwa paper.
