To start it off, just to be clear I am a supporter of Ruto against the dynasties and I do not support BBI because it is about political machinations and thirst for power and has no any agenda for the common citizen like me. I am just doing this as a political analyst.
But if I was Ruto:

[li]I would have totally supported the handshake from the very beginning and avoid any confrontation with Raila and Uhuru at all.[/li][li]I would have supported the BBI in totality and even prove my support by participating in it by attending rallies and acting as if i am subservient to Raila meanwhile I am doing my politics chini ya maji visiting the churches and going to harambees and launching the projects. i have never understood why Ruto opposed the handshake and BBI because politically he stood to lose nothing at all.[/li][li]I would have asked my loyal lieutenants like Ichungwa, Murkomen and others to stay low for the time being.[/li][li]When the referendum comes, I will have supported it wholeheartedly because after all the changes in the constitution could not in any way stop Ruto from being president because having Prime Minister, Deputy Prime ministers and deputy president means many positions to share of which i can give to my loyal lieutenants.[/li][li]I would have waited until the beginning of 2022 when I know show my true colors and fight for the presidency because by then I would get them by surprise and it would be too late for them to contain me.[/li][li]I think for this Ruto miscalculated a bit but lets wait and see how he will navigate this muddy waters now, maybe he will triumph against the dynasties, maybe his strategy was all different.[/li][/ul]

Ruto’s best bet would have been to lie low like an envelop and build tentacles all over the country while bringing the deep state closer. He should have shown them that he is not a threat and can be trusted with power.
One senior guy in the Office of President was telling me that people who run this country are civil servants. Politicians come and go but these powerful bureaucrats remain and can sabotage even the best laid plans and intentions.
Another mistake was upstaging Uhuru in Mt Kenya. His frequent visits to the region to solidify his support there was not taken lightly by Uhuru and his inner circle.
At the end of the day his forceful persona and inability to seek and heed advice is what did him.
DP Ruto made a classic rookie mistake. I wonder who advises this guy. His biggest mistake was falling out with Uhuru prematurely and buying Mt.Kenya politicians too early. Those are the two classic errors that might cost him the presidency in 2022.
By falling out with Uhuru too early (immediately after 2017 elections), most of the loopholes that he used to steal have been sealed. Sometimes you have to act dumb in the short term with your eyes on the prize. The ideal time to fall out with Uhuru should have been late 2021. That would have given him enough time to amass resources and make a strategy for his 2022 ambitions.
Ruto started paying off politicians, church leaders etc too early. Now, he has used a substantial amount of money and all progress is about to be undone. He should have accumulated his money and waited for the opportune time to use it in late 2021 and 2022 before elections. Right now, all politicians he paid off can disown him anytime after being threatened by the executive. Right now, with loopholes sealed and large amounts wasted on “early campaigns”, he is back to square 1 but with less money.
I guess visiting Mt Kenya was necessary because it helped him secure votes…but he should have done it lowly; without clearly revealing the intent

Hii ni 20-20 hindsight unatuletea hapa. Remember at the point of handshake, Ruto had a more powerful position in Jubilee so he thought he needs to defend that position. Thats why he at first reacted the way he did.
Ruto mistake is that he put the cart before the horse. He could have played a loyal dump fellow. Who is there for his master service.
Ruto broke a number of the fundamental 48 laws of power and it’ll actually be a “miracle” were he to become president.
Maybe he can turn around, but can he really do so with his persona?
He needed no one’s advice, you cant belittle your boss and at the same time insult him.

Don’t lie to yourself. There’s no grand strategy by Ruto and Uhuru to neutralise Raila.
Ruto is on the chopping board and the plan now is to finish him completely. When Raila’s time come, he’ll be dealt with if and when akianza kusumbua.
Hustler Vs dynasty narrative was introduced very early, was supposed to be in 2021. This is what broke the camel’s back. Dynasties including geezer Atwoli felt completely threatened
I thought you knew what you were doing until this post. So Ruto should have supported what was intended to curtail him? What I see is that ODM people are very happy about this, because they think Raila is the beneficiary in 2022. That is what they thought when Raila supported presidency system before 2012

Ruto goose was cooked when they were naming the first cabinet and other crucial appointment. the man gave Uhuru a very hard time from the word go. if you can remember, the cabinet was named in stages, because Ruto was adamant on what he wanted . it was in this first term that Ruto was all over the country claiming he was The Co-President, these created a false impression to the likes of Murkoman , that Ruto was untouchable.
those days Ruto as a Co-President used to sleep in state house, keep in mind Mama Ngina had paid him upfront.
Ruto did no mistake. Uhuru planned finishing him immediately he was sworn in. Remember the first term cabinet was as a result of discussion between the two. But the second one Kenyatta alichomoka statehouse na kikaratasi amescrible na pencil. Amd when journalists raised eye brows that the two aren’t together, lootal defended Uhuru eti the government belongs to Uhuru. That was even before handshake.
Then prior to elections, there were kina Nancy Gitau who Lootal complained that she should be fired. What did Uhuru do to her?Munya already hinted to him that his trouble will be soo many before 2022. What did he know that Lootal didnt know?
Again, shortly after handshake, Gathicha made the first announcement of public declaration of wealth. Directed to lootal. Lootal hadn’t began campaign by then. In short, Gathicha planned all this from long ago. Visingizio za early campain sjui undermining are just nonsense.
No one can dare deal with raila, actually when ruto is done raila can do whatever he wants with uhuru. Raila has the upper hand here
