Cash falls out of truck on Atlanta highway
Roommates, it was certainly raining on an Atlanta freeway, but there was no water!

Video has surfaced of driver’s pulling their vehicles over to collect flying cash on an Atlanta interstate, and authorities are asking for it back!

According to wsbtv, an armored truck was driving down the interstate when a side door flew open, and cash flooded t he road. One witness recalls people pulling over abruptly to sweep up as much cash as possible.

“I saw a bunch of paper floating around in the road and everybody pulling over on the shoulder, and as I got closer I noticed it was all just cash,” the driver says.

Authorities are reportedly asking for the return of any money picked up from the scene. Once police arrived on the interstate, all the drivers collecting cash were gone.

“When you come into control of property that you know is lost or mislaid and you appropriate that to your own use, without returning it to the owner, certainly, it is a crime,” says Sgt. robert Parsons of the Dunwoody Police Department.

Parsons says investigators are still trying to determine the amount of money missing, but says it is a “substantial” amount. Officers and the truck’s drivers were only able to collect about $200 that was leftover.

Police are asking all of the drivers to return the money, and say they will face no consequences. If they do not return the money willingly, authorities say they will use the viral video to identify driver’s based on license plate numbers.

“They can come into the Dunwoody Police Department 24/7,” Sgt. Parsons says. “We will not arrest or charge anyone who does the right thing.”

In a Facebook post, the Dunwoody Police Department kindly asks residents to return the cash. They also express gratefulness that none of the drivers are hurt.

“While we certainly understand the temptation, it’s still theft and the money should be returned,” the post reads. “We are thankful there were no crashes or pedestrians struck as a result of this isolated cash storm.”
