When you become so evil in the eyes of the Lord, your heart will become so hardened that you will even not consider repenting. This is to ensure that get a full dose of your punishment. This happened to pharaoh, the occupants of Canaan except the havitites who are the only city that through deception anyway surrendered and made a peace treaty during the inversion of the Israelites on their way back home from Egypt. If the guys repented it could have been impossible for the Israelites to kick them out so they had to harden their hearts even more to justify any form of condemnation against them. When your heart is hardened you don’t repent. So that you can worsen your situation. And get God’s wrath to the fullest ok? Which can be God doing you a favor so that you can suffer until you can’t take it anymore and you turn back to God like the prodigal son.
Now the worst version of that is dying with out repentance bcz you had a smooth sailing thru out your sin filled earthly life and never saw the need for it. After death your fate is sealed nothing you can do can change it . Go read the story of Lazarus and the rich man. hell is eternal what worse punishment is there?
God in his nature as long as you are alive and you repent He is merciful and will forgive you. Go read about Manasseh son of King Hezekiah. He did horrific sins including sawing prophets into two yet after being taken into exile in Babylon he repented and God forgave him.
People think it is they who do God a favor by fearing Him and having a soft heart and conscience. It’s actually the gift of God to live in such a wicked world and still discern truth. Remember that the world is ruled by the prince of darkness. So having a revelation of the truth and reverence for God is actually only possible thru the Spirit of God. You can see even the Israelites after the exodus would still make idols after everything they had seen God do. Faith is a gift from God and many are sons of perdition as was Pharaoh.
