Where do old cars disappear to?

I always ask myself this question. In the 90s stagecoach had introduced the double decker buses and I wonder where they are now. Then there were the old matatus the Nissan Homi the box kind…you’d think you’d at least spot one somewhere on stones or better yet on the road in pristine condition.

Kisumu had old kondele matatus that are also nowhere to be seen. They were a unique feature of the city. Are they parked at people’s homes?

Before the Chinese motorcycles started flooding the market, there was the 50cc Honda step-thru. Was really popular as bodaboda in UG but I don’t see them anymore.

I’m speaking in the perspective of someone who would like to restore an old relic. I had tried once and burnt but wouldn’t mind another project down the line.

Bring back the classics.

They are cut up and the metal recycled, I have seen it happen in garages in industrial area where a bus body is towed in minus the engine and transmission then after a few days it’s been cut up into scrap metal.

Scrap mingi ziko kwa garage, kuna siku nilicheki Datsun 240z kwa yard flani hapo Makadara. But kutu ilikuwa imeitafuna mbaya. Mwenye yard alikuwa anadai 40K nikapiga esabu yaku kuirudisha nilisare sa ile tulipata panya zikona mansion ndani ya engine…

Na pia pale Raunda ya Outering- Dandora- Huruma. Hio place ilikuwa na ma’Olskool mob, sijui zilienda wapi after upgrade ya outering…

True, but ukichapa raundi kwa hizi garage mingi najua huwezi kosa olskool shida uta spend a small fortune tu revive it plus patience. The upside siku hizi its getting easier sourcing for parts majuu and importing them.

Nimekuwa nikicheki tutorials want to do most of the stuff myself nikianza project 504.

This is my dream car …Nisukumie izo contacts i have looking for this car for the longest time…

Ilikuwa kitabo kidogo nitapitia hapo nicheki kama bado iko

hi seven-a side ndio ningependa kuona hata moja inatumiwa kama toolbox angalau kwa garage,Remember them,za lunga lunga?

May be garages na homes za remote towns I occassionally see shells being transported towards Nairobi the latest being a citroen ds

That’s the original nguruwe.

They are parked somewhere if they werent scrapped. I usually saw my grandpapa’s lorry in some town on public grounds rotting away. I never saw it move I only heard a story. someone stole and scrapped it because i never see it anymore.
lakini usijidanganye kitambo watu walikuwa na magari. only old established men could afford a car. Kenya has probably bought more vehicles between 2008 and now than it ever had in its entire history since muzungu akuje.

Bado ziko but huko K-South hio area ya Harmony.

My mzee still drives a 1977 Peugeot station wagon. Recently had the engine and gear box repaired at less than 20k. Kubadilisha cylinder head gasket for my recycled Toyota (can’t mention the model but year of manufacture is 2008) cost me 22k labor not counting

Leta directions I will go and check on Monday.

Slim engine ex japan ya toyota probox ni 25k why repair?

siungenunua 1977 peugeot basi.

Black mamba na releigh bikes zilienda wapi asking for team footsubishi.

Oh no! Sad sana

Most are discarded and bought by scrap metal dealers who then chop them up for sale to recyclers. Hizo Homy/ Caravan kwa mfano, a Guy I know disposed off his KAL the other day. After kupimwa kilo alilipwa 30k akaishia.

Umesahau phoenix Afande!
