Why some devices are late to recieve OTA updates

Google releases new version update targeting its upcoming nexus devices and Pixel, it also provides frequent updates to other nexus phones some days after the official release of new version. So, Google has designed and optimised its new version for only these 4-5 nexus pixel devices.

But if we talk about other manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, HTC, Sony or any other, these manufacturers don’t use Stock Android (Android version as released by Google, without any modification). They add Custom Skins on the top of Stock Android like Samsung uses TouchWiz UI,Grace UI HTC has its own Sense UI , Similarly, Xiaomi and Huawei applies MIUI in all of its Smartphones. They also add many applications, features and options. Therefore, we can’t see Stock Android on these phones.

These modification on Stock Android incur cost and time and people might have to wait for 3-4 months. But again, it’s not confirmed that you’ll receive an update after waiting for 3-4 months. Most manufacturers only design and optimise new update only for their flagship devices like Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7 for Samsung. They don’t bother to provide any update to their budget segment phones.

So, if you are using a low range budget segment phone from any manufacturer, don’t expect any update from the manufacturer. You have to be fortunate enough to receive any update.

Rooting is the only method to install/flash custom rom of new android version on your phone.

Why the obsession with updates?

The other thing is different providers receive updates at different times. I had a Samsung phone yenye ukienda forums unaona wasee US Verizon wamekuwa updated to Lollipop. Hiyo update ilikuja about about 6 months later. My sis got it on her phone. Her phone was 3G. Yangu ya 4G, same make, I had to wait for about four more months. Am talking about Galaxy E5. Also same thing for Galaxy Tab. Same model fellas in US got updated. Hapa Kenya ni some shitty ‘security’ updates tunapata tu.

its in techies blood, you don’t feel okay when using a lollipop when motherfuckers are on Nougart

Apart from techies, the vast majority of phone users aren’t bothered. Even manufacturers aren’t too bothered about it. They won’t support a flagship phone beyond 1 and a half years. It is more beneficial to them if consumers keep buying new phones every other year.

Take a look at the distribution numbers:

Eish!!
Lemme Flash Android O dev preview nijionee

Google hupatia other oems the source code of the dev version halafu the final android code huwapatia pia a month earlier than when Nexus phones get updates. Thats unaonanga Sony phones huwa na dev preview same as Nexus or Pixel phones.
Oems unlike the custom rom guys have to do lots of tests and ensure the os is stable before releasing otherwise mnaweza cause havoc na mjipate kortini mkilipa a class action suit

Good sir might you be having a link to ile version ingine ya Whatsapp? My original whatsapp inareturn error -24 when I tried to reinstall
