why the need to licence it, I am assuming you import an exact look alike, I thought you would just need to switch the plates.

ENGINE and CHASSIS numbers must correspond with the ones appearing on the log book. It’s possible to switch everything else apart from the two I’ve just mentioned above

Even looking at it the right way, a car’s engine can be changed legally - either-way I am assuming its more of a hobby thing, and in that case one just swaps the plates.

Thats what I meant, changing the engine is not a big issue, but why go through the trouble of importing a complete car and smuggling it via ug, while you could just import the parts.

it would be much cheaper to just import the parts directly to kenya

Thats what I meant, changing the engine is not a big issue, but why go through the trouble of importing a complete car and smuggling it via ug, while you could just import the parts.

importing part alone will be very expensive. here i just need a full car

If you’re going to do it, do it soon. Uganda is also contemplating putting an age cap on motor vehicles.

Having foreign plates is a hustle bana. You will be stopped at all police checks guaranteed.
