A 64-year-old man from Kayamo Village in Rachuonyo South, Homa Bay County died after he was allegedly beaten up by the leadership of Legio Maria Church for “sleeping when prayers were being held at his house”.
According to area chief, Joel Owenga, one of the members of the clergy was “directed by the Holy Spirit to the bedroom where Mr Oduk was sleeping”.
The “Holy Spirit further directed the member of the clergy to eject Mr Oduk from his bed”.
The members of the clergy thereafter assaulted Mr Oduk.
