Xiaomi Announces New CC Series, Discontinues Mi Max and Mi Note Line

In recent years smartphone companies have been launching subbrands to cater to different users and global markets. Xiaomi, the world’s No 4. smartphone vendor, is the latest to join the bandwagon with the new CC series under the Mi Line just like Huawei’s Honor and
OPPO’s Realme.
Mi CC developed in collaboration with Meitu will be a new smartphone brand series under the Mi brand. The CC stands for camera-camera – dual camera setup the phones will pack but it also has different meanings such as creative, colourful, chic and the devices will be targetted at the young demographic.
The Mi CC team is one of Xiaomi’s youngest product team (aptly named the Chic & Cool 90 team) in its 9 years of operation – half the team are art majors. We expect photography focussed devices with flagship camera specs.
In terms of design, it will rock trendy aesthetics under the Xiaomi X Meitu AI Aesthetics Lab. This means that Xiaomi will utilise Meitu’s imaging algorithm and users should expect more AI and beauty filters to enhance the normal photo and selfie capabilities of the upcoming phones.

The first devices that will come out of this line include the Xiaomi CC9 and the lighter Xiaomi CC9e – no launch dates have been confirmed yet. Reports say that the phones will only be exclusive to China and hopefully be available globally later on, fingers twisted.
No successors for the Mi Max and Mi Note lines this year
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also added that they’re discontinuing the Mi Max and Mi Note lines. The Mi brand will still continue producing high-performance models. The only phones remaining will include the Mi Mix series and the CC series. The recently split Redmi brand will still continue shipping pocket-friendly devices. The Remi K20 line can be presumed to succeed the Mi Note line.
