Xiaomi is not playing in 2019 with the new redmi sub-brand

Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO, introduced today the Redmi Note 7 - the first phone that’s part of the new Redmi sub-brand. The phone has a 48 MP camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, Snapdragon 660 chipset, massive screen and battery, while costing just CNY999 ($150).

The 6.3” LCD comes with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera and Gorilla Glass on top. The resolution is Full HD+ and Redmi quotes a screen-to-body ratio of 84%. The Qualcomm chipset might be a bit old, but it’s still plenty fast and its CPU runs at 2.2 GHz. There are three memory combos for the Redmi Note 7 - 3/32 GB, 4/64 GB, and 6/64 GB and there is a microSD slot as well.

The main camera is clearly the biggest selling point of the new phone. It’s native resolution is 48 MP, but due to its Quad-bayer filter it’s better used for outputting 12 MP images with large 1.6 μm pixels and real-time HDR. There is a secondary 5 MP shooter for AI purposes and Portrait Mode. The selfie snapper, tucked in the notch, is 13 MP.

The battery has 4,000 mAh capacity and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4. The Redmi Note 7 has a USB-C port and comes with a regular 5V/2A charger in the box, but you can add a fast-charging block in your package for just CNY10. This will enable 9V/2A charging options, which Lei Jun said will top up the phone from 0 to 100 in 1 hour 43 minutes.

Redmi Note 7
Initially introduced in Blue, Twilight Gold and Black, the Redmi Note 7 start from CNY999, but this is for the 3/32 GB variant. More storage means more money - CNY1,199 for the 4/64 GB phone and CNY1,399 for the 6/64 GB variant. This means that even the most generous option is under $210/€180. Pre-orders have already started, with shipments scheduled for January 15.

Wana flood market though it’s a win for us.

Itafika Kenya when??

nice one. ni walete mbio tununue

no announcement on global launch, might take 2-3 months vile wamezoea na global versions

Haha talk of market disruptors. Chinese enyewe hawacheki na watu

Don’t buy this phone, wait a bit longer for the Redmi note 7 Pro. The 48MP sensor is a fake one.
It uses the Samsung GM1 sensor which is marketed as 48MP bt is effectively 12MP. The other way to know it’s a lie is because the SD 660 does not support 48MP kwa hivyo huu ni uwongo. If you buy, just know the camera will be the same as that for the redmi note 5 pro and redmi note 6 pro. The f-stops are the same actually 1.8 if I am not wrong.

The redmi note 7 pro will have the real Sony IMX586 Sensor which has effective 48MP. Real megapixels. And you know it will have a better SOC because the IMX586 can only be paired with a chipset like SD 675 or SD 710 or higher!

I told people the real price of redmi note 6 pro is something like 17k lakini mkanunua pale jumia at 22k. Sasa mnaona SD 660 imefika na under 20k. Xiaomi has actually said the price will be 150 USD. Which is fair coz SD 660 is an old chipset.

The only upgrade you will make kama ulikuwa na note 5 pro or note 6 pro ni chipset pekee na USB type C. Camera is the same, trust me. Wale wanapenda looks watafurahia water drop selfie cam though.

If you ask me, kama price itakuwa more than 20k enda nunua Note 5 pro. Otherwise ngojea pocophone F2 ama redmi note 7 Pro both of which will have a 2018/2019 chipset plus a real 48MP camera. But please don’t buy this phone for the camera… hata selfie camera has been downgraded from 20MP in note 6 pro to 13MP in this one.

Hapa xiaomi is being dishonest. Kama itacost more than 20k, Note 5 pro will be a better offer. Janjaruka!

Anyone here selling or know someone selling a clean second hand phone any brand except Samsung with minimum of 4GB ram with a Snapdragon chip please contact me via 0734206155 for quick deal

Fair price, lakini it’s not 48MP.
Here are the detailed specs of the snapdragon 660 from qualcomm

This phone as per xiaomi, this phone has the Samsung GM1 Sensor for it’s camera. Samsung Markets it like 48MP capable, because, based on the SOC, it can be adjusted to mimic a 48MP sensor but honestly it is a 12MP sensor. After all Snapdragon 660 cannot support 48MP, maximum is 25MP. Now compare that to snapdragon 675

You see now this can support 48MP .

At 18K watu wanunue coz of the chipset. But still I would wait for the Pro version with snapdragon 675. lakini please please, ukitarajia ati camera itakuwa better than an iPhone or even Pocophone utashangaa, hii ni 12MP camera with F 1.8 stops and nothing more.
These phone companies lie a lot especially when it comes to MP and camera quality.

DIFFERENCE IN SONY IMX586 VS SAMSUNG GM1 48MP SENSOR – EXPLAINED BY HONOR GENERAL PRODUCT MANAGER XIONG JUNMIN
Recently, mobile phone photography has made great progress, at least in terms of pixels. From the beginning of 300,000, to the later 12 million, 24 million, and even now 48 million. At present, the 48-megapixel camera has Samsung’s GM1 and Sony’s IMX586. It also claims 48 million pixels. What is the difference between the two cameras?

Xiong Junmin, general manager of Honor products, released the same 48 million pixels, what is the difference between Samsung GM1 and Sony IMX586? In the article, he elaborated and analyzed the differences in the article.

According to Xiong Junmin, the IMX586 is Sony’s new stacked CMOS sensor for mobile phones. The sensor has an effective pixel count of 48 million. Its biggest feature is the use of Quad Bayer arrays. The Quad Bayer array is expanded to 4×4 and is 2×2. Arrange RGB adjacent.

The data disclosed by Samsung’s official website can also prove this point. We can see in the specification table of GM1 that its resolution is 4000×3000, which is 12 million pixels.

https://sparrowsnews.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/20190107_215952_113268891364814346505.jpg?w=660Samsung GM1https://sparrowsnews.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/78ce29d3gy1fyy64x97hpj20zu0d4aaj2838634384251551182.jpg?w=660Samsung GM1 Specifications
Therefore, the fundamental difference between IMX586 and GM1 is that the former can achieve true 48 million pixels by transforming the pixel structure, which makes the photo have stronger resolution, and can be more clear after zooming, which is also the highest pixel. The advantages.

The GM1’s 48 million pixels is essentially 12 million pixels. Even if the phone can output 48 megapixel photos, it is more like interpolation. The IMX586 is truly a traditionally defined 48 million pixel.
