Yvonne Chaka Chaka simply has to be the very best female singer Africa has ever produced, and right up there juxtaposed with Miriam Makeba; indeed she was decisively intrepid, and with absolutely no trepidation, she planted African music into the broader Western Societies, and to some extent Asian among others.
I remember hearing it when it landed like a Tsunami in the 80s, whereby at my friend’s place, we were celebrating his birthday, and had all very much entertained and perhaps one of my first lucid memories.
