Something is innately wrong with we Kenyans. We don’t develop our own arts, instead choosing to copy others while downtrodding the little we have left. Almost every song is trying to sound either Nigerian or South African or even Jamaican. Before that it was the Congolese. Most of these “gospel” songs are basically Zouk.

KBC went to the lengths of bringing the heritage of Kenyan communities to the TV and with the Kikuyu, there was a guitar style called Erithi and it is superb. I’ve looked for people who may know it so I can learn and no one does. Sadness of Kenyans.

One of these days I will make benga/mugithi/momboko/bango/isukuti gisty to each and every Kenyan.
