A hilux truck is basically a workhorse…kazi yake ni mjengo kubeba engineer, bush whacking ama kubeba simiti kidogo. The trucks have crazy power especially the unlimited 3.0 D4D variants and one has to be really careful and understand how the vehicle handles otherwise the chances of you flying off the road are quite high. But the new DMAX is quite the workhorse. Ranger is good but damn expensive…but i still prefer the Hilux due to the number of affordable mods i can run on it…

At Jkukat, they build for research purposes. To design a phone, car, etc requires several independent components even MIT couldn’t build commercially. This requires professionals with several years experience. JKUKAT ni chuo tu Kama nairobi primary school ama lenana high. kitabu Tupu. Give even their lecturer a project and see how blank he will be .

SMH. There are super engineers at JKUAT. The problem is lack of capital to advance their projects. If you doubt me, make a point of going to the JKUAT Tech expo and see a couple of brilliant projects that would definitely develop immensely with the right capital. Developed and owned by actual engineering students.

Stop hating on things blindly just because they are “Kenyan”. At least do some research

Toyota Vigo is still my favorite.Its durable. Haichapi kama Nissan Navara or Mitsubishi.Spares are cheap and available.Compatible with most other D4D spares.So on account of those plus resale value.I prefer Toyota Vigo.

Notice I mentioned MIT in the same context as JKUCAT. I didnt hate on Kenyan. MIT is one of the best if not the best. And I said MIT doesnt build for commercial purposes in the say way JKUCAT doesnt. Being academic is one thing. Developing for commercial is whole other story. I can give you all the capital you want. An academic institution will probably never develop a product quick enough to consistently make a profit. And continuously adapt. MIT included. Thats why they dont venture commercially. I mean Nyayo Car had capital. Where is that project today? Realistically, even if that car didnt break down in Nyayo stadium, could they commercially produce the cars in large volume?
Brilliant projects they have. But they exist in books. Try building it then you will know.
