The best they can for now is use that revenue to acquire at least 3 profitable startups and rehire those engineers so that it’s sustainable
Andela was probably just collecting data on the African tech ecosystem and using the Andelans as guinea pigs. That data has now led to the change they announced. It was wrong for Andela to purport they are training Software Engineers; you dont learn Javascript and Flask for 3 months and become a Software Engineer. This may sound arrogant but most Andela graduates are not Software Engineers, they are just web developers calling themselves software engineers. Andela should not be having problems placing real software engineers to work for their clients in the US, the problem was placing junior web developers to do a jobs meant for senior software engineers. The good news is that most of those “engineers” that have been let go will not have a problem finding jobs. There are many jobs in Africa that require the skills they possess. All is not lost.
