If you want to import a bike, go to eBay preferably UK, find the bikes on auction there but look around to see the average price of bikes you want so you can know what to bid, if you find one that interests you, offer the seller a reasonable price and bargain with them to reach a deal. On shipping, use a company like Kote Kenya, you just pay a deposit of about 50% of the price agreed upon, and they purchase, handle and ship for you to Kenya, you just pay them 750kshs per kilo and you sort out the rest once your bike lands here, it’s pretty hassle free, and how I got my bike

Nice thread Gio. But buying a second hand bike online can be very tricky because of the bike fit. MTB, racing bikes, touring bikes and hybrid bikes have a different bike fit. Then there is the issue of components: most components like the drive train must be in very good condition because replacing them will be more expensive than the bike. for example shimano 105 group set is approximately 42,000 Ksh. So you must be very careful.

When you visit online bike shops like wiggle uk, harlfords uk, chain reaction uk, trendz uk or Evans cycles they ask you for a lot of information in order to get the best bike fit for you. They’ll ask for your inseam and height as they get the right bike for you. Second the expensive parts like the group set will be completely new.
