I have bounced many cheques, and more have been bounced in my account! The banks normally clear the days cheques at 3.00 pm. It takes 2 working days for banks to reconcile the amount ( Bank 1 to tell Bank 2 here is your money / their is no money in that account ).
It might also be, like in my cases, he is waiting for payment in his account and then he pays you.
The good thing with a bounced cheque is that it is illegal under the penal code to give someone a cheque when you know the Account has no money (exception s are there).
