City Hall revenue has risen since taking office – Governor Sonko

Additionally, we now have water at least two days a week. Though we sometimes have to fetch it overnight, it beats buying water from cartels. Under Kidero - odm, Nairobi was slowing turning into a slum. Ndio maana RWNBP.

For pointing out subtly that Babuon was a major beneficiary of the revenue collected in County 047?
THIS WILL BECOME VERY APPARENT WHEN ALL REVENUE STREAMS ARE DIGITIZED.
And remember that 047 contributes more than 50% of 254’s GDP…

That’s a good move if it has already been implemented. Officially it used to be 7 million a day unbelievably. I remember I posted here kitambo how Jambopay owner had to relocate his family abroad and sleep in different hotels daily since he was constantly trailed by some thugs. He was rescued thrice by flying squad. Cartels were mad that his system would block their schemes at county hall. He feared his death would be the end of his company and therefore the system would seize.

So now, what about these other smaller but sizable counties…Mombasa,Kisumu, Nakuru, etc. Will they give a partial disclosure?

Igathe said all contracts will be reviewed. Some will continue, others reviewed, other renegotiated and most will halt. I trust him more and I expect the same to be implemented. Lastly remember Nairobi county team under Gov Sonko-Igathe is been directly supervised and partnering with the Presidency. They both have big plans and work to do here.

One of the reasons our devolved units have had very little impact on our economy has been their inability to raise revenues internally leaving them to depend on the exchequer for atleast 80% of their revenues, I think 047 is proof counties CAN collect more revenues than they are doing.

I hope so, Kenyans are wiser and expect more thanks to a more open and transparent society. With every elections st least more is achieved and more is expected in some quarters. Senate needs to wake up and pass mandatory laws to digitize all revenue collections in the devolved funds. County assembly need to be more vigorous in its oversight role at the counties. The court needs to end its impunity of blocking every investigation and impeachment of governors. The maiden 47 governors was a let down. Almost all of them are in court stopping EACC and CID on way or another.

Otmetka, Spear, Maathais.

You’re praising Sonko and vilifying Kidero so much that it’s suspicious. We’re only a month into the guy’s term. Please relax your hardons already.

I’ve not praised Sonko. Indeed, if revenue collection dips from what he’s reporting, I’ll be in the forefront asking WHY and HOW COME?

Yes I am and for good reason. The Auditor general passed a qualified report on Nairobi and Kakamega counties this year. That’s the worst an auditor can give. He basically said he could in all certain terms say how much was collected and how it was used. After trying for a whole year to go through the accounts and have endless meetings, his team gave up and said a total of Kshs 100 billion is unaccounted for (Kshs 10-12 billion local revenue collection & Kshs 15-18 billion devolved funds annually). There is no excuse both counties had a well functional system before devolution to fail an audit completely. The second bit is just common sense. Open your eyes, how dirty and dysfunctional has the city being in the last few year? He did absolutely nothing. The last few weeks the county garbage collection vehicles have been busy. I remember one joked that we give them a few months to see progress, they are trying to collect 4 years worth of garbage in one go.

Shame on Kidero and JaKuon. As Governor of Nairobi, Sonko should attack Kibera with love and development until there is nobody willing to waste a day waiting for the fat-cats to come and perform the silly dance as they belch from the bounty of the Ole Sereni.

was intern there things I saw are only in movies

Based on the fact that people don’t like change, I see Sonko getting resistance from his staff. Already they are murmurs.

Kwani how hard is it to fire an incompetent county staff. Does the governor have power to sack?

Porn movies ama?

He has to follow due process. Or they take him to court and get reinstated. Basically only way is if they commit a crime and are caught and charged.

What did you see?

I’m interested. Explain the process please
