Now that I have used this… Firefox v56 and below is pure garbage. That should say something coming from a long time Firefox user. I’d say it uses at least three times less RAM and it’s more than twice as fast… it’s insane how much of an improvement it is.

I couldn’t go past 30 tabs with the old FF and never past 70 tabs with Chromium, but with this I easily pass 100 tabs every few days.

If you’ve used FF before then you know if you opened about 20 JavaScript intensive sites FF just choked. I have 8GB and FF often consumed +5GB of RAM taking my RAM to 90% usage slowing everything down. Right now I have 150+ tabs of very same sites I visit. I haven’t closed the browser for the last three days and my RAM is at 90%. That’s about +100 more tabs

FF is slow compared to Chrome. And Chrome’s extensions are easier to create and don’t need restarts after installs. Even if multi user support was added to FF, wouldn’t you miss chrome that remembers all passwords on your PC and phone?

FF is slow compared to Chrome.

This is no longer true. FF57 uses a new framework called Web Extensions(?) that is supposed to fix the issues of past extension problems. FF also has sync… and Bitwarden (after moving from LastPass) is a far better password manager. Chrome has nothing on FF at the moment. But to each their own. For me, no other browser can handle my browsing habits as FF does – so far it’s the only one that does not crash on me.

When you go past 30 tabs in Chrome you can’t tell which tab is which… and it eats all RAM.

What about Opera. I have been working with chrome on one of my less powerful machines that runs on 2gb of ram. Chrome simply kills the machine. I have over 50 bookmarks on it and if you make the mistake of navigating away from one tab for too long, you go back to it and it has to reload and then hangs for like 3 minutes. Opera on the other hand is smooth as hell. It has its own ad block that filter almost all of the ads, a simple VPN service for porn, a screenshot feature that allows you to select a section of the webpage so you don’t have to crop in another app. The best thing about it is that it conserves the RAM on that laptop and pages do not reload if you leave them for a while.
