Muhindi flani in Kisumu has a coffee shop and cyber cafe/mobile phone outlet under one roof. So when buying a phone/phone accessory he gives you a receipt of say 20k (or value of the phone)…but…ni receipt from side ya Coffee shop where he only pays 1% catering levy.

The corruption that used to take place during kibakis time was mind boggling, ulikuwa unaenda mumias Kidero’s time to buy sugar unaambiwa all sugar in the stores and all sugar to be produced 5 months from now has been paid for, wekea huyu individual pesa akuuzie ile amelipa. Then cash ya watu wa ndani/factory management at around 300 per bag usisahau…kuna mtu anakuja kuchukua before you can load. Hakuna kuweka kwa account. Yaani if you decide to use normal means pesa yako inalala 5months before upate your one lorry of sugar.

Worse of was NCPB during Misoi’s tenure, some people were buy maize from the goverment parastatal using postdated personal cheques. (Ladies and gentlemen let that sink in) Yaani you load maize worth lets say 100M, unapatiana post dated cheques. Mill the maize, circulate the money for almost a year bora urudishe before audit ifanywe. Place ya store keeper inawachwa blank ndio ukirudisha pesa, anaandika thats the day you carried your maize. Talk of an interest free loan for a year.

That is why i commend kamwana in his efforts to fight corruption, hii ujinga huwezi fanya sahii. Enyewe tumetoka mbali.

Naambia watu waseme of corruption they experienced not heresay. @dabu in trucking and @Meria Mata can attest we used to carry normal loads of 60tonnes. Yaani from an allowed 32tonnes unabeba double. (Trailers then were 4 axles) Ukienda mombasa hakuna kazi ya capacity loads. Lazima ubebe excess upende usipende. Roads were being made 3 months later hakuna kitu ni mashimo tu. Anyway kenya has changed.
