Can you name other airports where the same policies exist without sanctions being in place?

There are a couple of airports in west Africa, I think Togo if I recall correctly… We have lots of below standards airports.
I think you’re mixing sanctions and airport worthiness.
In sudan, the security is very weak, especially when it comes to cargo and the apron area, that the reason behind the story, not sanctions.

I haven’t seen reports of poor security or any incidents that happened as a result. Terrorism related sanctions which the EU has also adopted are also a linked factor. It is similar to the predicament that Fedex found itself in with the Huawei sanctions, they started refusing to accept packages. Other airlines outside the US and EU fly to Sudan (Emirates, KQ, Turkish etc). Perhaps the situation will change once their new airport is operational and the political situation stabilizes.
