I guess the old passports shall just be like exercise books after the 31st August deadline.
After they replace, their neither punch a hole like they used to do, they neither retain it during the processing time nor put the stamp “HOLDER PREVIOUSLY TRAVELED ON KENYA PASSPORT No XXXXXXXXX ISSUED AT XXXX ON XXX WHICH HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND RETURNED”.
You might be denied the right to exit the port where you shall be after the deadline, as the issuing authority(GOK) has said that they are obsolete after the said date.
Kindly try to have it replaced prior to your trip, as i recently did.

Good for you! I’d suggest that you still keep the old passport, just in case. I still have my first (punched, lol) passport, just for sentimental reasons.
