Crystal view also is a good stb.

That’s what I use. CrystalView 902T2.

I like it’s program management options. Also the interface is okay. Has the manufacturer released any firmware update? What other stb do you think is that good?

I’ve not seen any firmware update and I actually expect none. This box may be good but only because the competition is so mediocre. I wouldn’t consider it really outstanding though I’m ok with it. Other good ones I’ve heard others speak of include Jolini (aka Haojin) and MicroVille. Zile Rockdale za kwanza-kwanza pia zilikuwa fiti but I’ve heard numerous complaints about the ones currently in the market. Hii ya @aviator (Stantech) sijaitumia as yet. Then there’s the combo v8 that has both DVB-S2 & -T2 tuners in one STB.

Scantech and Crystal View share the same hardware. The difference is the interface, and Scantech scores. Ability to hide non-FTA channels, EPG and the PVR capabilities are the key distinguishing factors. External power supply for Scantech makes it usable with dc (a little modification is needed). A superior media player with all the functionality of a home theater.

Jolini, Next, Rockdale and Hotpoint are…bullshit.

I’m hoping to get to test the Scantech very soon by the way. I’m especially on the lookout for tuner sensitivity and a pleasant interface. Back in 2009/2010 when Signet began DVB-T simulcast, I had the Echolink EL-280 DVB-T decoder that was perfect in all ways imaginable. I was sad to let it go when Signet switched to DVB-T2.

Naona you’ve come from far. Try Scantech, you’ll definitely like it. What am not happy about them is the miniaturization of the next generation of decoders that they started producing from April. The older ones (what am currently having in stock) are just perfect. Drop me a msg when ready for the test drive.

Yeah, nimetoka mbali na hizi vitu. Back then is only just began on FTA satellite. It was good while it lasted coz for the test transmissions signet then had lots of int’l channels which offered quite a variety. I’ll most definitely drop you a message.

@aviator, CrystalView has the same features as you’ve listed . Could you please post a picture of the user interface especially with the ‘info’ displayed onscreen(where it shows channel name and number, and resolution e.g 576P).

That’s important. I want to be able to change the time the ‘info’ banner stays on they screen when I change channels instead of hitting the ‘exit’ button. I also want to see full info such as channel resolution on the banner as some other STBs show, plus a good color which could be appear translucent.
