Ethiopia rations electricity to homes and industries

na kuambiwa venye abiy is the most progressive leader in Africa

Ethiopia SGR has a pure electric engine. It has two diesel locomotives for service use or emergency. Its Kenya SGR that is diesel electric. Meaning the diesel is burned and its combustion doesn’t go directly to drive the engine. Its directed to power the electric engine that drives the train. Its a hybrid engine that creates more power, less pollution for less diesel used.

Ethiopia has a installed capacity of 4000 MW. Double our own, however its internal power transmission lines are outdated and don’t cover the whole country like us. Its only 3 years ago they formed their own equivalent to Ketraco to build a nationwide high capacity transmission line network for Ethiopia. They made mistakes of quickly building the hydro dams without corresponding evacuation and transmission lines. So they have 4000MW but only use 2500MW at peak times. That’s is why Ethiopia agreed to sell to us their cheap power 400MW since its not being used. That transmission line will be ready by Dec 2019. The other problem.is that their previous government didn’t care for the locals. All that power was meant for SEZ zones not the locals. You have a district with no power connection but a high capacity line is passing through them for 100’s of Kms up to a SEZ plant directly. Its like all Geothermal power going to Nairobi and Nakuru-Naivasha-Kiambu is in darkness.

The reason why some one is always advised to read what they have written before press the post button…

What helps Ethiopia is that 99% of information from that country is through government communication. Foreign media, envoys and correspondent must get permits and handlers wherever they go. They decide who you speak to and they also guide your information to the right direction.

PM Ably is great and making big changes to a century old system. The system is fighting back. For example you don’t know the different tribal and religious regions are at a grassroots war right now. The revolution weaken the military, police and intelligence network that kept everyone in line. The former powerful Intel chief was even jailed. Now you have 1 million internal displaced people in Ethiopia. Caught in the wrong region where low key militias are chasing and killing people not from the region. When they call the police or military they are told to call the people who led the riots that forced the changes to help them. That’s why I worry about PM Ably security. Most people don’t know there is already a spat between Eritrea and Ethiopia security officials. Eritrea has closed all the border points it opened months ago. The change was good but it didn’t go far enough. The remnants and the deposed are working to destabilize the country.

Si hii ni Noma sasa. Will he really survive assassination and be able to control and keep making his changes? Shida tupu…

He must survived and be allowed to make the necessary changes. Ethiopia fate rests in his shoulders. If he us killed, they may revert to a civil war. The 1st Oromia leader and he is killed will fracture that country. However he needs to reform Ethiopia intelligence to work for him and with him. Like or hate them, they kept everyone on line. They knew everyone and especially all criminals. Now that their presence in the ground has reduced, every Tom, dick and harry is lording over others. In Tigre region their entire police force is tribal and they are very bitter they lost power. So now they have roadblocks all over. Any person going there has to be searched and interrogated by them before you can enter. The state doesn’t want to push the issue there as almost the entire former leadership is there and it can spark to be something big.
