This comes from a worn bearing on one of the pulleys. Its not the belt. but the belt will fail soon because the pulleys are not perfectly parallel to each other.

Hi shida ya Fan belt imenisumbua sana, I have concluded that Its the Fan belts being sold around here that are sub standard , So hazina Grip poa. Changed mine like 3 times n bado hiyo sauti iko 2 days after tightening

Nunua Genuine belt from Toyota.Hizi substandard za 1300 wont take you long.Original ni expensive but ikifungwa poa stress inakuondokea.

Apart from the correct tension, there are also low quality fan belts that make lots of noise…

True those bearings on which the belt rotates could be faulty.I had to change on my Hilux as well.But it took me to take to Toyota Kenys to install a new fanbelt sikutaka incorrect installation by my local mech coz aliweka belt tatu not original na zote zilichapa.So when i bought an original one at close to 9k niliamua Toyota waweke wenyewe i cant risk buying an original twice.

The screeching sound could also be coming from a broken bearing wheels on the belt system which was Most probably caused by the faulty belt jamming.
Your mechanic must have spotted the fault lines on the belt which is why he advised you to change it!
The sooner you do it the better because the next stage now will be the belt breaking as you drive and shredding the whole system pulley etc.

Shida ya mia kadhaa ends up costing you thousands and time.

Too loose or the Vee belt is worn out… if it was alignment inatoka when you start the engine

It probably needs to be tightened at the alternator. It can bring charging issues if it goes unchecked. But then again i could be wrong

Its either loose or more tight, look for a good mech to align it properly.

I visited the mechanic yesterday and it was an issue of a loose nut at the alternator. It took me less than three minutes. Thanks all for your insightful comments
