So many things are wrong here.
First, Afrison did not buy the land from the original white owners. They grabbed it after the coup. That is after the white owners left the country. With the help of land officials, they then obtained documents that were back-dated to 1981.
Second, the land on which the primary and secondary schools sit on was acquired through compulsory acquisition and the schools have been in existence for more than 34 years without anyone laying a claim on the land.
Do you remember the 2015 saga where Lang’ata primary school’s land was grabbed? Well, the education CS wanted all the public schools’ land to be secured through issuing title deeds to them. That’s when the Mburu’s woke up and smelt blood after they got wind that the schools did not have title deeds. Only allotment letters.
Some history is necessary here.
Ater grabbing the land, the mzee hatched a plot to borrow a loan and never repay it coz he feared that the land will have issues later on. His wish was granted when Afrison took a loan around 1982/83 and in effect the company surrendered the title deed. The loan was worth Kshs. 150 M and it was never repaid. That’s why the mzee does not have the mother title. The bank went under around 1987 and the mzee never bothered to reclaim his title coz he knew it was all a scam.
That brings me to the next pointer: even though Afrison & Huelands are said to own the land, payment was made to Whispering Palms. Clearly, this was a simple means of evading the issue of Afrison having a loan, which they never repaid. So the easy way was to create a new company and pay it even though the new company (Whisphering Palms) was not the one laying claim to the land.
That’s why when Whispering Palms transferred 930 M to Champions ltd and then Champions ltd started re-distributing the money in a suspicious manner, banks temporarily froze the accounts pending investigations by the Anti-Money Laundering Unit. However, through their connections, the wakoras involved a judge, a court order was obtained and the accounts were unfrozen. Day after the unfreezing order, money disappeared probably to fool investigators.
Let me not preempt everything. I’m just happy that there’s a new sheriff in town and the Mburu’s and all that long chain will be exposed for the wakoras that they are.
