‘Ghost’ Nation With 745 Generals And A President Without A Bank Account: SOUTH SUDAN Long Post

Mental sickness, they thought that independence meant having the money bashir was pocketing and dividing it among themselves. So how do they increase their share, by taking or promoting themselves and friends to power. Now you know why they have all those generals, that title is needed for a fat pay check. Free money from oil makes people behave like children scrambling for a wedding cake

also to appease the many militias that came together after independence. Its not a professional army

Big egos little brains.

Simple marshal a group of youths and threaten to cause chaos then the govt calls you to negotiate and you agree to join the army plus your boys who already call you general and the rank has to remain. That is not an army but a coalition of militias

In SS every man is a soldier.

I posted a link sometime back about how a guy wired 8M USD to Barclay Bank Queens way branch then the dude walked there and withdrew 1M USD (yes you read me right USD) and walked home, no questions asked.

The portion of this that Juba retains is uncertain; for one, Juba routinely complains that Khartoum takes more than its agreed-upon share, an allegation complicated by the fact that most infrastructure, even the metres to actually measure oil flows, are controlled by Khartoum.

Ni kama missing link ile akina Leakey walikuwa wanatafuta.

South Sudan will be worse than Liberia/Sierra Leone/Somalia… it will take them 30 years to come back to their senses

It will be the next Somalia soon. No functioning government. Badala ya Mujahideen we will start dealing with Janjaweed on our Northern Border

SS had been neglected for so long by Khartoum that they did not have a cadre of educated people to form the civil service or create structures to run the government , if you put semi literate persons at the helm, you get a free for all as they don’t understand the meaning of nation building.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
They should have first voted for autonomy then gradual independence after having created an educated cadre that could run the civil service and form a disciplined military. It was obvious from the very beginning that they didn’t have the capacity to govern but western and some neighboring countries all had an interest in an independent SS due to oil , gold and other minerals in that region.
Essentially economic and geo political interests superseded common sense !!

He he. This is very true. Reminds me of a guy called David Yau Yau. He Studied theology here in Kenya and in 2010, he ran for an MCA equivalent position in South Sudan but lost. He accused SPLA/M of rigging and started a rebellion called Cobra. One year later, he signed a peace deal with SPLM and him & his militia were integrated to the SPLA. He was given the rank of Major General (3rd highest rank) 1 year later he rebelled again and signed a peace deal with Salva Kiir where he was given the rank of Lieutenant General (2nd highest rank)

Hapa Kenya ukijaribu huo ushenzi you’ll get your ass shot to smitherens and no one will remember your cause.

Unfortunately that was not possible because N.Sudan preferred them as rudderless as possible. Educating more would’ve meant S.Sudan asking for more come independence time. This is perfect for Sudan - benefits of the oil without the responsibility of administration.

Kenya would have gone down the same path had Kenyatta yielded to Mau Mau’s demands of being given military posts and be in charge of KDF or whatever it was called back then

Hehee imagine this guy as Le Générale
