I think the process of banning someone should be well laid out and open for everyone to understand and critique. I don’t support child porn and I think it’s a justified reason to ban a poster but you need to have a well laid out procedure. One of the forums I frequent was locked by authorities for two weeks as they gathered evidence and requested some posters to help with investigations. The forum went back online after about a month but with a new set of rules and regulations. At least this was in the UK where they uphold freedom of speech so authorities did not have legal mandate to close the site but requested the admin to post a new set of regulations to govern that freedom of speech and association.
