Is academic success wired to religion?

First of all, Descartes did not aim to ‘fool’, but to reason with Elisabeth.

Second, when it comes to proofs, humans are poor at proving things, because a lot depends on what you select as your axioms. So far we’ve only been able to prove the most basic things about the universe - a lot is unknown.

Third, Elisabeth wanted simple answers some problems we’re yet to solve. Take, for example, what you mention, whether the soul(mind) controls the body or vice versa . We currently know that the state of the body affects you mind (e.g. hormones that are produced affect the brain) and we also know that what you think about triggers certain events that affect the state of the body (e.g. anger increasing the heart rate and arterial tension). We still don’t have an answer to that…

Understand the political context she was in, and how this may have motivated her intentions, or not…

It’s not all that simple

I tend to avoid labels that try to simplify worldview

have you read anything between elisabeth and descartes or you just glossed over it

Totally agree

Are you a spirit?
