Kenyans Own The Ugliest Designed Houses In The World...

Huwezi weka ya Onyonka kwa mix. The house ni ya mid 70s-80s . Gafana Kabogo na Kidero have very good tastes.

They are all ugly houses. All they have is squares and semi-circles. Waiguru’s is moderate and she didn’t design it anyway. Looks like the old designs that used to be a Balozi’s house.

A result of owners not having an idea, then give the whole project to an architect with limited vision. The architect has never travelled outside Kenya to to develop a taste for beautiful designs. And rarely goes on google images nor is he subscribed to architectural forums. Technically you should head to an architects office with a drawing design. Give it to him only to make modifications. Not to design everything from head to toe. And dont let him use the cheapest material ( especially on the exterior) when you are building the most expensive house in town.

Good thing is that its changing. People are building beautiful houses now inspired by outside designs. They are putting money into landscaping too.

Of all the politicians, I think Ruto has the best house design. The interior designer did a fantastic job.

Pfffffffft ! Not all Kenyans are politicians. Just 0.001% . Alafu ile ya RAO in riat hills ama ya mwizi sugu ya 1.2B sugoi …do they fit kwa hii category?

Hehe …sasa umekuwa architect ! Issorait

I think the UK has the ugliest houses in the world.

Really? Official residence or private? Here’s his private house.

Muweke nyumba zenu hapa ndio tujuwe mna taste…or are at least artistic and creative.

Fools!!!

Mimi wacha niendelee kuishi kwa my grass-thatched house (Od-Lum).

Some may look ugly from the outside but the Brits are more keen on the interior decor. There are buildings you cannot renovate without planning permission from the local authorities. This one looks like one of those.

[li]A new wave of property development is pushing up the prices of homes to new highs in Nairobi.[/li]House prices in the capital city’s high-end market are known to border on what can be termed by most as over-the-top.
The famous House No 12 on Magnolia Hill in Kitisuru sold for approximately Ksh650 million.

According to ArchDatum magazine, the design and construction of the building were handled by celebrated architect Mehraz Ehsani and was completed in early 2014.

Zana Development Marketing, which marketed the property, in an article indicated that the interior designer (Ehsani) created the building as a family home
A quick look at mansions on sale in Kenya reveals an average price of Ksh 180-579 million.
In Muthaiga, there are several such pricey properties, especially flat land which is rare. There is also the Golden Luxury Villas development, in Mambrui near Malindi and others in Nanyuki.
However, the pandemic has shifted the landscape with several mansions and bungalows being auctioned over loan defaults.

Research also shows that every year, the pool of buyers spending over Ksh 100 million on a house reduces as they move on to other investments. Their waning appetite is proving a hugely expensive exercise for owners.
Unsold homes in areas such as Muthaiga could cost the seller over Ksh 50,000 every month in maintenance, which includes paying for security, electricity, and garden-care among others.
Over the past few months, prices of luxury homes have dropped. For instance, those located in Muthaiga have come down by at least 30%.

Located on Mbagathi Ridge Road, the family home is described as “a combination of mindful planning and stylish design, set against the backdrop of mature trees”.

The design, architecture, and aesthetic of the house depict a heavy Swahili influence.

The main house is double storey with accommodation spread over 2 floors. The ground floor comprises a foyer that showcases both Indian and Swahili design.

Every country has ugly houses. Judging Kenyan architecture based on 3 houses is stupid. Mudavadi and Waiguru’s houses are cool though, I wonder why anyone would call them ugly.

Yuck. That monstrous ugly thing?
Mwenye amesema 001 nakubaliana na yeye kabisa. The guy has class squared, especially kwa lifestyle (kwa women pekee ndio ameangusha ball). He knows how to spend his money on nice things. And whoever did his Vipingo home, manze please hook me up!
Amason Kingi is another one with impeccable taste. Kwanza kwa wanawake nimempa full marks. He could teach Joho a thing or two in that department.
Ruto yuko na kaushamba and his house is definitely ugly.

Imeitwa kennel design

 this thread and the comments reminds me of the time everyone descended on Wakanyau’s thread to criticize his “pig stys” when we all know that most users here are renting and have zero experience in developing real estate investments … hata a single room. Hilarious!

Taste is fine for someone who isnt wealthy but it reeks ignorance. The roof is too slanted for tropical climate. You would think that this house is somewhere in germany and he is expecting winter.
