Ahhh KLM has loosened the grip,at least no individual lenders-Former lenders I assume its Financial institutions (The banks).Pheew we just need to give KQ enough time it will come back

Give Joseph and the new CEO time, the last results kq were 16b in losses…by next year i am certain they will be in the green

They should start maximising land side profits such as introducing an executive express lounge service.
For example a limo to pick someone from their residence and onto the airport and to a exclusive lounge away from raia and then a limo ride to the aeroplane on the runway. In some countries they charge 10x more for this service than the economy ticket price.Pure profits in-there.

There is already an exclusive lounge. Those lounges am sure don’t make returns. They had that service of picking up and dropping passengers. It backfired

Is it that we are lazy, a shithole country, lack of vision… KQ was among the very earliest airlines on earth. Today they should own more land, other airports in other lands, hubs and numerous other ventures etc. They could be ferrying tourists from as far as New Zealand, south America etc. Have the best taxi businesses in Nairobi, shuttles for tourists, budget hotels… I don’t know, yaani many assets. Hizo miaka ni mingi sana!

Many decades later, bado airport ama hub ni ile ile tu. pale pale tu. Can’t even pay workers. Small fleet size. Nothing. no extra assets, no museum, no hotels, nothing to cushion them in case of such loses. And their hub is parked right in an animal park… full of potential. They could’ve bought Sudan the rhino and parked him at their hub for tourists to view at a fee. I’ve said it before the govt. probably shouldn’t own or run businesses. Just privatise. Open the markets.

When an airline is govt. owned in an environment such as Kenya’s it just creates a cash cow for a few govt. connected thugs and cronies. It will never grow. That’s why a govt. connected thug like Pattni could set up shops at a national hub. There’s zero talent running the place. Just govt. appointed place holders. It’s a surprise it’s still standing. And yet it was started at the birth of aviation.

Why do we even need a very slow SGR whereas customers could be air lifting cargo from Mombasa to Nairobi and elsewhere?!

Reli zinaisha fashion lakini wewe unajenga a very expensive reli ilhali you have a very huge airport and a very BROKE airline in need of work and money!!!

Aki Kenyan leadership at times.

Take an airline like Singapore airlines founded 1947. Kenya airways was born as East Africa airways in 1946. Both born at the same time but the difference is unbelievable and both are govt. owned!

It’s as if one company was built by martians due to their stratospheric rise. Singapore airlines is very profitable but such a small part of Temasek holdings the parent company of Singapore airlines. Temasek is so big they even do research in agriculture. Singapore airlines on it own has so many ventures with even airplane engine manufacturers like Rolls Royce. They’ve even invested in the research and manufacture of airplane parts in state of the art facilities! Yet, it was Born in the same year as KQ…

Sio telecomunications, hospitality there are in so many spheres of the economy and invested heavily in the growth of the country Singapore !

Their agemate Kenya airways meanwhile has only one venture to brag about: a very parasitic, one sided relationship with KLM.

For crying out loud, KQ, should by now own and operate and repair and even be reconstructing Mombasa road! It’s their umbilical cord to Kenya. They should even have helicopter services, their own city to city light railway line. They were there when Kenya was born!
