I would definitely do the same. The traffic rules clearly states that, you should check your side mirrors before overtaking, alighting or probably even braking.

The guy was totally on the wrong and braking that fourteen wheeler to an abrupt stop is a NO joke. Matatu drivers know very well that, with their high hardness, they can’t joke around with oncoming trailers.
