On that 300k you can’t comfortably have two kids. It’s not possible for a minute class person. Too much financial pressure. I can’t afford another kid on my current income which isn’t too far off the figure u have quoted

As per what I want in life, it can’t work. I need an income of 400k+ to afford two and still be able to enjoy my life. Props to you for having the courage and faith to have that many kids on that salary.

The term middle class in Kenya is used by the disillusioned. Here you are either rich or poor. No in between just because you can afford to live in an apartment, go out once in a while, take break fast at Java once in a while doesnt make you middle income. I see senior managers at our firm come 20th are broke asf. If most of the self proclaimed “Middle Income earners” lost their job today it wont take a month or two before they became poor. They question is do you have enough savings to sustain your current lifestyle for even a year? Can you go for holiday without fulizaing from cronies come January? If not then rethink and readjust your lifestyle.

Take a middle class neighborhood, e.g Kile kwa apartments. How much do you think you would have left for investments if you matched that lifestyle on a net of 300k? Assume you have a family. The answer is: not much. You will afford the lifestyle easily, but you wont have any meaningful savings to invest with. The best you will do are peasant investments kama pigsties za mabati ama zile plot za 500k in the middle of nowhere. Have you ever wondered why celebrities go broke and yet they make serious $$?

That 300k is a very small population. In fact if you were to plot out on a map where these people live, I’m thinking its westlands and its environs ( lavi, kile, yaya), gigiri/runda, kitusuru areas, garden estate/thome, karen…and I honestly think that it. I dont think it’s even 10 neighbourhoods …

Very many people make that, specifically in Nairobi. How many SUVs and Crossovers do you see on the road? How much do you think those people pay in rent, for those who don’t own where they live? How much do you think they pay for their kids’ education? Suddenly $3000 net doesn’t appear to be much, and I am very specific, huku Nairobi. Kule counties, $3000 is a lot of money.

Look, I am not the type of guy who will come here to brag about being a birrionea, because I’m not. If I was singekuwa kenyatalk to start with, I would be somewhere golfing with the elite not interacting online with the hoi polloi.

Nooo! Many, many kenyans have incomes exceeding 300k. You have no idea bro. 300k for a family of 4 is paycheck to paycheck wages in Nairobi. Watu wa kitisuru wanacheza in the millions per month range.
