@spear and @Useless Spectator y’ll don’ get my point. Prostituton has always existed and will always exist, issue is how as a society , prostitution has gone way up than it has ever been in Kenya. Either y’ll indulge in it or are too blind to see the vice in society . It has never been this rampant and casual before . All can be attributed to accepting western values as the norm.

Nairobi County Assembly on Friday passed a motion prohibiting commercial sex in the City.

The motion was moved by the MCA for Woodley Kenyatta Golf Course ward, Mwangi Njihia, who argued that sex trade in the capital has become an open air business without consequences and therefore the city needs nip the vice in the bud.

"
I am deeply concerned that this business is today happening rampantly and openly within our communities without repercussions on the offenders as provided for in law,” said Njihia.

The motion received overwhelming support from Members of the Nairobi County Assembly who raised concerns on how palatial homes and restaurants have been turned into brothels.

They urged Governor Mike Sonko to “move with speed and robustly enforce the provisions of the law to deter commercial sex in the county.”

Nominated MCA Mellab Atema seconded the motion and asked the County Assembly to save Nairobi youth from the vice and diseases that come with it.

“We need to plan on how to get those involved in this business back to the society and rehabilitate them. However hard it may seem, we have to act,” said Atema.

Penal Code

The penal code criminalises aspects of prostitution, stating that: “153(1) Every male person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of prostitution or in any public place persistently solicits or importunes for immoral purposes, is guilty of a misdemeanor…”

It adds that: “(2) Every woman who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of prostitution, or who is proved to have, for the purpose of gain, exercised control, direction or influence over the movements of a prostitute in such a manner as to show that she is aiding, abetting or compelling her prostitution with any person, or generally, is guilty of a felony.”

It will now no longer be legal to commercialise sex in Nairobi, whether on the streets or in brothels.

Prostitution is not a worth employment activity, soon or later it will take you six feet under. It should not be granted privileges to flourish.
Making prostitution unacceptable will make some young people think twice before getting into it. So many children are orphaned after parents die from Aids.

Further cervical cancer is caused by a sexually transmitted virus, which many people may not be aware of – papillomavirus(HPV). Is a major killer of young and old.

Prostitution and poverty go hand in hand. the same applies for the rising number of hawkers. unemployment is very high in Kenya. In the rich countries you’ve mentioned many times it’s not local girls it’s usually foreign girls trafficked there by criminals from surrounding poor countries like romania in Europe.

sina masters but if there is a proffesion that is under rated its prostitution there is a reason even developed countries have it

-first there are health benefits policy of always using condoms those ugonjwas ua mentioning spread coz of unfaithful couples and their mpangos

-its not a worthy employment activity but women who been there do so to get out of poverty by say getting starting capital for their business …more than 3/4 of these women start their own business in less than 5 yrs

-young people never think twice about pussy if the supply is eliminated a problem will be solved but another starts when a niccer (who dont have lugha)would ave opted for a hoe quickie than rape that neighbour, child or nyemelea peoples wife or go after animals

-so many children are orphaned by couples who make stupid decisions dont blame it on prostitution
