That rain did not necessarily originate from Narok, ilitoka huko mbali milimani. Forest trees would have acted as some sort of ‘brakes’ by being obstacles to the downward water flow which in turn would promote the same to be absorbed into the ground thus reducing surface runoff and minimizing risk of flooding and landslides/mudslides (which incidentally they should brace for if current deforestation continues unabated).
